I am wondering if anyone can recommend a compact camera that has a view finder and a decent amount of zoom for travelling.  I have a Panasonic DMC ZS7 and love it but I need one with a view finder.  I have trouble seeing the screen on this one on bright sunny days.  Thanks.

I'm stuck in an endless decision loop for a new camera and need a fresh perspective given my needs, planned uses and current gear. If you have time I would welcome your thoughts and suggestions. I know I'm just over thinking this.  We're planning a family vacation to Yellowstone which is prompting the upgrade desire. Uses would be (in order of percentage of use): Family vacations and trips (portrait and landscape), school/soccer events/games, school functions (gym lighting), product...

I attend a lot of concerts and had a lumix zs7 that I loved.  I am not camera savvy and need something easy to set and use.  The zs7 was great because I could set it on ballerina and the pictures were amazing.  The video was always clear too. I recently purchased a zs25 because of the zoom but I'm having trouble finding the right settings for concerts.  The pictures are either blurry or grainy.  Help!

I have a Panasonic GX1 mFT with the 14-42 kit lens (28-84mm 35mm equv). I really like the camera. I also have an old Panasonic DMC-ZS7. Great all-around camera. I love its zoom range of 25~300 mm (35 mm equv). I'm having a hard time deciding what to do next. Keep the ZS7, which is getting little use, and get a 45-175 (90-350 mm equivalent) zoom lens for the GX1, or get a ZS30 and leave the GX1 alone? (In another part of this forum, the 45-175 emerged as a good lens for outdoor soccer photos...

Just held the LF1 ,and ,well it feels a little "plastic" compared to my TZ10 and TZ25. Is the Leica C version metal bodied ? ,or made of the same material ?. If these both are plastic bodied I may have to re-think my purchase and get the LX7 instead ,was looking forward to the NFC and WiFi connectivity and the slightly larger zoom capabilities ,but I just cant stand plastic feeling or plastic bodied cameras. I know the TZ series has plastic covers ,but to be honest the TZ series feel far more...

Hi there, So I have been undertaking a heap of research over the past few weeks in order to upgrade from my TZ10. So I bought this camera probably influenced by the marketing of megapixels, zoom and positive reviews from digitalcamerainfo.com. Whilst the camera did suit my needs in terms of capturing acceptable zoomed low-light shots at music gigs - it's not pulling its weight for my current needs/wants: Recording quality music YouTube videos in varying lighting conditions - mostly low. (I...

I write articles for a RC model aircraft magazine and often need to shoot close-ups of small, intricate parts assemblies. I usually use my Panny ZS7 in macro mode on a Joby tripod, but would like to start using my 40D for more control. I'm not sure what lenses might be appropriate. I presume a "macro" lens would be suitable, but I'm not sure whether or not I need one that zooms in on the parts or one that allows me to position the camera closer to the object. Unlike critters, my parts aren't...

Hello I know I'm probably beating a very dead horse, but It's a question I can't answer since I am not able to see either of the cameras in real life and it seems like a lot of comparisons always end up focusing on specs vs. price alone and concludes that the GR is "better". But if cost was left out of the equation, would people then choose the A over the GR based on such things as image neutrality, build quality, and LCD screen quality? I don't want this to end with the battle of "Made in...

I have access to the following cameras - lx7, zs7, and fz150.  I am taking a 3 week trip to Prague, Budapest, Vienna, and Salzburg. Primarily, we will be walking around the old town areas during the day and evening (to see night time city scenery by the rivers) and visiting the interiors of cathedrals, churches, and museums. Any advice about the camera or combination of cameras to take and camera settings for inside of churches and night time scenery would be greatly appreciated.
