Very handy sized camera for a 10X optical, EZ zoom helps get extended reach even further, great wide angle, automatic mode does a very good job, scene mode helps to overcome lack of manual controls, excellent battery life, optical zoom in videos very useful, indoor photos with flash are decent Problems: low light photos not great, very poor auto focusing in telephoto mode, poor auto focus in low light, lack of manual controls

I bought this camera last August as a gift to my 17-year old daughter. Since them, I have tried it myself quite a few times, only to confirm the quality of its performance - fantastic 28mm wide angle, almost no barrel distortion; great 10x optical zoom; very accurate image deffinition; very good colours; very intiutive. Great value for money, not as compact as 3x zoomers, but much more "pocketable" than most 10x zoom cameras. Very, very happy, so far! Problems: Considerably noisy under poor ...

Recently I have upgraded my TZ1 to the TZ4 (Great value at the time of purchase). I was extremely pleased with the TZ1 once I got to know the camera limitations. However, I decided to upgrade the camera mainly for the wide angle lens of the TZ4 and reported better high ISO quality. Like the TZ1 this camera has it's own limitations largely due to noise in low light situations. However, there is a noticeable quality improvement between the photographs of the TZ4 and the TZ1. I love the 28-280mm ...

I bought the TZ4 as an upgrade to my Canon A570is because I wanted the wide angle coverage of the 28 mm lens (compared to the 35mm of the a570). As a bonus I got the 280 mm 10x range. three shot bracketing (3 shots in 0.5 seconds) and zoom in movie mode, all in a pocketable camera for $195 + tax. After more than 1000 shots on various outings the TZ4 has lived up to my expectations. I do miss the optical viewfinder under bright outdoors conditions, but less often than expected, since the LCD ...

I bought a black tz4, to accompany my fujifilm f31fd, because of its 28mm wide angle and 10x zoom. IMAGE QUALITY Compared to the f31fd image quality is average to poor. - Ugly combination of noise and noise reduction at 100 iso. Worse at higher iso. Loss of detail as a result. - Poor dynamic range. Images do not have the contrast of the f31fd and highlights are often totally burnt out. - Seems to overexpose sometimes. Probably need more practice fiddling with the settings. - White balance ...

I have just bought this as a carry everywhere point and shoot camera to replace an Olympus FE-340 (with 5x zoom) I was not happy with and an old Olympus C770 (with 10x zoom) which I was very happy with but needed to be replaced. My reasons for choosing this model were the good review, the 28-280 effective zoom range and a special price of NZ$399 (about US$220) with free accessory pack which included a case, 2GB card and an extra battery. So far after taking around 20 good clear picture, I am ...

Having owned a TZ3 for over a year now, I recommended either a TZ4 or TZ5 to my wife, for occasions when we are travelling apart. As expected both cameras produce excellent results that are almost indistinguishable from each other, with the TZ4 being slightly better if close examinination is carried out. The TZ4's controls are far more simplified and transitioning from a TZ3 to a TZ4 has it's awkward moments. The camera's layout is subtly different (and so is the software). My biggest gripe ...

The results on a recent trip to Turkey were quite simply -fantastic !In my wifes hands using IA the results were comparable with my DSLR--she even got the best shot in the whole trip.We found the best results using vivid. The 10x zoom is a breeze to use and sharpness is consistent through the range. The screen is great for playbacks and the flash works well for indoor group shots. Problems: The lens cover doesnt always retract fully and sometimes needed a helping hand. A minor niggle is that ...

I've numerous cameras from 1ds2 down. My daughter took my pocket camera to Australia, the rather poor Olympus 740 so I bought this as a replacement. The lens is really good, the OIS excellent. Like most modern compacts it has too many megapixels so suffers from noise at higher ISO. However, oveall, I am really impressed by this beast. The lens is top SLR quality. The camera handles well. The sound on video is indeed poor but the video is ok. The screen can be seen in bright sunlight, unlike ...
