I've numerous cameras from 1ds2 down. My daughter took my pocket camera to Australia, the rather poor Olympus 740 so I bought this as a replacement. The lens is really good, the OIS excellent. Like most modern compacts it has too many megapixels so suffers from noise at higher ISO. However, oveall, I am really impressed by this beast. The lens is top SLR quality. The camera handles well. The sound on video is indeed poor but the video is ok. The screen can be seen in bright sunlight, unlike ...

Excellent camera, fits in well for the guys who need it for Personal Family Use. Problems: Atleast i was not able to take moving pictures with IA mode as clear as they should be.

I would give it a 'moderately recommended' rating. I love it's ease-of-use and great wide/zoom lens. Shooting videos with it was also quite successful; although not perfect it is much better than other compact-cameras we've tried. However, often the pictures you take look somehow not quite right. We brought it back after a week, being disappointed after 5 years of using a Canon PowerShot S50, but might decide to buy it again (or the TZ5) seeing as that there doesn't seem to be any other ...

In simple terms for me the TZ4 or TZ5 story is the lens & daylight shooting. I bought the TZ4 over the TZ5 because of a Costco coupon good through June 22 2008 for $199.99 including a 1GB memory card and a soft camera case. A good friend had recently purchased a TZ5 so we went on a daylight walkabout taking the same pictures. Minimal differences. The only reason I can see at this point to get the TZ5 over the TZ4 is HD video and that is of little interest to me given the poor sound quality. ...

absolutely fantasic digi camera. I test trialed at a local camera shop, and immediately noticed how well built it was. The 10x zoom is really impressive on such a small camera. I really like the Intellient Auto feature which makes taking photos a breeze. The 16:9 ratio is very nice for panramic shots. overall, a solid camera. will be taking this on overseas trips..note to buyers. shop around, this camera is not widely available in US stores b/c the TZ5 model is more popular.. For the same ...
