I own the TZ1 since 18 months now. I was more than very pleased with it for a year until I bought my first DSLR, the superb Nikon D40. I then realized that this camera had barely no colors compared to the Nikon. Even on vivid mode, the colors do not please me anymore. But overall, this is a great camera with nice features, like 3 format shooting modes (4:3, 3:2 and 16:9) and 2 video modes (4:3 and 16:9). Very simple and pleasing to use, this camera is very well built, solid and not too big. ...

Bought as a back-up camera. I already have a Pentax K10D SLR, also a trusty FZ5, but I found I wanted something small enough to stick in my pocket or on a belt. The price of this little beauty has shot down so I took the plunge. I reccomend it if: 1. You are in the market for a compact camera bargain. 2. You want a big zoom that isn’t going to be needed for action shots (unless you can pre-focus) 3. You want a camera with stabalization, good battery life and can zoom big time whilst recording ...

Excellent Camera and now, since the new models came out, at an amazing price. There is lots to love about this camera. Its a true compact, that still managed to get up to a 350mm equivalent lens, and its a Leica lens at that, sharp as anything. Its no use having a super telephoto without Image Stabilisation and this camera has one that works brilliantly. Its so simple to use, and while it has limited manual contrls it has a huge amount of pre-programmed features to compensate. I bought this ...

This is a wonderful secondary camera for people on the go. Having a camera that can zoom out to 350mm equiv in a compact form factor is decisively useful. Simply put, you will get more pictures, because you will have a tool which will allow you to take more pictures in a greater number of places. The lens gives photos with great clarity at low ISO, even out to maximum zoom. The construction quality in outstanding, the LCD is bright and very clear, and the movie mode is of acceptable ...

This is my first digital PS camera. As an artist who would typically spend $800 a year in film, this camera has been a huge cost saver. The massive zoom range of this camera in a small body cannot be underestimated. You can always have this camera with you if you have large pockets, or tucked away in a bag. For myself, this camera is always with me. The zoom allows me any photo opportunity for my art reference photos. The lens image stabilization really works and is absolutely necessary ...

Truly great camera (with big flaw). Noise, purple fringing, and poor low-light performance mar an otherwise incredible camera. The design and controls are top-notch. Very pocketable yet offering a sharp, stabilized 10x zoom, one of the best (if not the best) movie modes around, and a very simple control system with many scene modes. For many shooters, this camera will sit around between vacations and that means picking it up and re-learning controls. Panasonic does this better than anyone ...

Price is great on the tizzy right now, wal-mart price matched radio shack at $199, what a deal.

After practically going blind reading reviews about this camera I decided to go for it. I am another victim of SO wanting to like this camera. The zoom is amazing and I think I could almost put up with anything (besides poor image quality), except, and a big except, the shutter speed! I tried to be fair in my other ratings because I honestly didn't get much past the shutter speed. It is ridiculously slow and I mean ridiculous. I know some people said they were okay with it in their reviews ...

A friend and a family member bought this camera on the strength of my experience with the FZ20 and FX9 (own both) - they both wanted portability with something like the FZ20 zoom lens and compactness akin to the FX9, but point and shoot - were not that interested in manual functionality (nice and simple!) Enter the TZ1 - A perfect balance of zoom, great optics, compactness, excellent construction (high quality), useful features and extremely easy to use for good results all round. The pros: * ...
