Enjoyable little camera. Great bang for your bucks. Can't think of another camera that gives you so much for the price. I use it as my top pocket carry-at-all-times camera when I go on holidays. It takes great snaps. I can go out, have a few drinks, put it into its Intelligent Auto mode & the camera does the rest. Day & night.Very few bad or out of focus shots I have my DSLR & high end compacts for the serious stuff. Don't set your expectations too high and you can have fun with this camera P ...

I agree with demch, 19 May 08 review. I do not think the image quality is very good at all. I am ready to exchange this camera. None of the features matter at all on this camera if the resulting image quality is this bad. When I loaded my vacation photos onto my laptop and zoom into each photo every single photo is very pixelly. I used the highest possible photo quality setting. None of the images are comparable to my Nikon L1 p&S 6.2 MP camera which is the camera I was trying to replace. I ...

Plenty of features, but I am a little disappointed. I have tried other hi-end lumix and was very impressed. I guess you get what you pay for. I found the camera a little slow. Maybe to smart for it's own good. Problems: Startup to first shot seems slow. Focus assist - to- red eye - to- flash can be a long process, and you don't quite get the shot you were hoping for. Image quality is ok, but at full at 1:1 view it is not that sharp, and looks compressed.

I have 2 DSLR and 3 P&S. This LZ8 is a new addition, mainly for video. My Fuji (E55) is not bad but it uses XD card. The Nikon L11 is horrible and lacks exposure control. The LZ8 is capable of 4:3 and 16:9. Other than not able to zoom while taping, it meets and exceeds my expectations. I can now completely forget about my camcorder. With a 8G card, I can take almost 1hr of video which is good enough to be played back on a 46" 1080p LCD screen. It is so compact that it is a joy to take video. ...

I bought the LZ8 for £100 to replace a Nikon Coolpix3100 as my second camera. I also have a Pentax K100D. I wanted a small camera that used AA batteries (same as K100D) and took good video footage with sound. The LZ8 is slimmer but slightly wider than the Coolpix. I think it's as compact as you can currently get an AA powered camera. The video quality looks very good to me, a 20 second clip took 26.4MB. In general use the camera is responsive and the screen is clear and bright. You can also ...

Examples with poor image quality can be seen at this link http://www.uazone.org/gallery/tests/test2008-panasonic-dmc-lz8/index.html it contains few not regular tests: Test 1 - Rainy weather, slightly dirty lens (just few fngerprints but causing noticeable glowing effect) Test 2 - Cloudy weather, slightly dirty lens (just few fngerprints but causing slightly noticeable blurring/glowing effect) Test 3 - Sunny weather cleaned lens, blurring/glowing effect almost disappeared but still can be ...
