This camera has a superb spec which fails to deliver. It's complicated to use, and at 'auto' settings is frankly below other cameras in its class. It's at its best at the wider settings of the zoom, and for macro work in good light out-of-doors. I've found contrast and sharpening both need increasing; noise reduction seems to me to make little noticeable difference at any setting. The LZ Series have always been a great line up for the money. They hold up very well, long battery life.. especially with Hybrid batteries!! The Panasonic cameras tend to capture more finer details then many competing cameras. They have excellent white balance performance as well. Everyone complains about terrible noise, but I have yet to honestly experience anything terrible. A little tiny bit more then the competition, but nothing horrible. I bought this camera a couple days after it came out to use on vacation. Build quality was decent, though a bit flimsy/plasticky. It would have been nice if they had included a rubber grip. This camera has a plethora of features; O.I.S., Manual modes, a 30 mm wide angle, and a great LCD. Sadly, I ended up returning the camera due to (in my opinion) terrible image quality.
