Forget about Panasonic if you care about image quality. I've been testing this camera thoroughly and it is an overall great camera in many aspects. But I am very dissapointed about the sensor performance. If after seeing these reviews and the sample images available in this site you still want to get one, let me know. I'll be happy to get rid of mine. Problems: "Noise" is a huge problem. This amount of noise is far from being even acceptable. I honestly would rate this camera's sensor in ...

Samples... I bought this camera in Dec 2005. It is amazing. The only drawback of this camera is the noise when you take the picture indoor or druing the night, other than that, it is perfect. How bad of the noise? Let the picture show you by itself: This is a night sence shoot, I used "Noise Ninja" to reduce the noise: (Please replace f with t to see the picture, All shoots are using ISO80) hffp://2east.net/toronto.jpg This is the original picture: hffp://2east.net/p1000015.jpg Those are the ...

The very good: Leica lens is super-sharp; 16:9 wide screen is terrific; photos at 28mm are really wide, rather than the usual cramped digital photo; LX1 delivers loads of manual control in an ulta-compact camera. Pictures seem much much better than my wife's Canon SD450. Bottom line: for $450, I'm happy with this camera. At $550, I'd start to be a touch grumpy. Problems: The not-so-goods: the sensor is very noisy at any speed > 100 ISO. You can fix it, somewhat, in software (but who ...

I was looking for a pocket digicam and the Panasonic looked like just the ticket. I have to say I'm very satisfied. The manual controls are like nothing else available. The OIS seems to work as advertised. Forget all the stuff about noisy images. When I do need the higher ISO's I plan on editing with Noise Ninja anyway. The detail at lower ISO's is as good as it gets with a small sensor and 8 mp. Problems: Not really with the camera itself. I've had problems loading ACR 3.2 so I'm limited at ...

It is a wonderfull camera and not noisy for me. Pros: 28 mm, excellent image quality and perfect lens, HDTV, fast RAW mode, huge LCD, image stabilization, small and light weight, nice movie modes. Cons: No viewfinder, no ring (adapter) for filters, no AA battery. Problems: No problem.

The construction and handling are superb. Important functions, like exposure compensation, ISO, picture format and size, white balance can be changed easily. The 16:9 picture format is awesome. The colours and sharpness are also great, but the pictures are noisy above ISO 200, however the image stabilization system helps to keep the sensitivity bellow 200. Problems: - unusable at ISO 400 (very noisy) - noisy at longer exposure time (bellow 1/10 sec), but RAW processing and noise reduction, ...

Reading the reviews, I wondered what good is 'fun to shoot' if image quality has issues. This camera answered that question. I just took my brand new LX1 on vacation to Paris for 2 weeks and shot nothing else (last year I shot only an M6 in London/Rome). As when shooting film on a vacation, I didn't see my pix until I returned (I don't really count the tiny on cam preview and I downloaded them each night to my ipod). So, I was able to judge this digicam solely on the basis of ease of use. ...

This is by far the best compact I have hd - previously had Pentax Optiosand Caaon Ixus series, sold the Ixus 700 to buy this, no regrets. The build is great, lens out of this world, very sharp and lovely colours ( I also use a Leica M6). My last 2 outings into the Black Forest were with this camera, my 5D, which I love- stayed at home. 16:9 prints look fabulous, no sign of noise there, best low light performance so far thanks to the very good IS. I can highly recommend the LX1

I have the camera now for 1 month. I have this camera as a 2nd camera next to my sony f828. Well built small camera with nice features. More than I actually need in this size of camera. Great LCD. Excellent lens (28 mm!!!) and easy to use. Problems: No problems yet. The price is rather high.

This camera is sweet and fits the serious photographer by providing full manual capabilities and great glass. The widescreen format is a great option as well as providing the 28mm wide angle that is hard to find in a compact. Last week I received my new Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX1K (black) and love it! I bought it from BuyDig for $451 plus shipping ($29 2 days and it arrived fast). I bought a couple of Sandisk Extreme III 1GB SD cards for $115 each (plus $20 mail-in rebate) from B&H and a ...
