The large debate over this camera appears to be image quality. I've owned this camera now for several weeks and have taken over 500 shots of various subjects and time of day. The most challenging of which I find is children. And it's here that the camera shines both outdoors and indoors. I wont focus heavily on the technical aspects in this review, however I will try to appeal to the every day photographer. Whether it's a shot of single child, or multiple children, I can honestly say that ...

I have just begun using this camera and I am enjoying it. I have already begun taking photos good enough to frame and for a beginner, that says a lot. The look and feel of that camera are great and the menus make it a snap to learn. I have added a 256K SD card and that makes a big difference in being able to take more photos and better image quality. Also, I can recommend using using the "San Disk Cruzer" SD/ USB drive to download images directly to you computer, allowing you to use any ...

Big disappointment with Auto mode (indoors w/low light). Indoors pictures are truly bad when Auto decided to use ISO 200 or 400. Outdoors with lots of light you'll get beatiful pictures. I'm disapointed with Panasonic, this is supposedly the top of the line camera with Leica lens, but if the final result is an over processed image with unnatural colors then it's not worth it. I hope Panasonic will fix the problem releasing a BIOS or firmware upgrade. I understand this camera is optimized for ...

I've seen the full size picture of this camera in a web review but the image quality is very disappointing. Luminance noise are very high. The lens may be good but I think there is a problem with the CCD. Images are very blunt too.

I have had the camera for 2 weeks and have taken over 500 pictures . No problems so far , far superior to my 1,3 meg camera . The lens range is good ( 33 - 100) as very few of my '300mm' pictures in the past have been successful anyway , due to camera shake , slower speeds ,less light etc. 8 frames in 2 seconds was excellent when photographing sea-lions in the underground observatory of the Auckland zoo. Close - ups are excellent - just set auto-focus to "spot " for good results.Nice large ...

This camera was given to me as a gift, and when I first saw it, I was very hopeful that it would surpass my expectations. Unfortunately, as is the case with many things, looks are deceiving. The images are no better than my cheap little toshiba PMDR1, which is only 1.3 million pixels. I am really sorry, and have to agree with many other owners that the picture quality is dissapointing - in the extreme. I would go so far as to tell any new prospective digital camera purchasers NOT to buy ...

Panasonic and Leica are a beautiful couple. Some reviews bag this camera, I must have missed something . I would recommend the LC5 to anyone, great colour clarity and ease of use. I have had this camera for 6 months and my friends are all trading their Nikon, Canon digital cameras for this gem. Problems: None yet.

Hello, I have read most of the opinions posted on this site regarding LC5 and was quite frustrated by wide range of those. When I bought the camera I was delighted with purchase, but further testing it and digging in its functions was dissappointing. I even took it to the dealer to compare with same cameras. When we tested the camera at dealer's place, he suggested to take it to the service. The reason is the image quality: if one uses ISO 200 and 400 the level of noise is unacceptable even ...

I found it quite good. I compared it to the Leica Digilux 1, and found they are almost the same regarding the external structure. Image is not that bad as some people said. Here is a link to a technical test of LC5: http://www.digit-life.com/articles/lumixdmclc5/ Here is another link to the comparisons of the pictures taken by Panasonic LC5 and Leica Digilux 1 http://www.ficar.com/dgc/digitalcamera/digilux1/images/1vs5/index.htm Problems: SD is expensive.

Everything but the picture quality at highest resolution is great with this camera. I have bought it two weeks ago and returned it to the shop for a full refund after two weeks. I was disappointed with the blotchy look of the 2240x1680 photos it makes. At 1600x1200 the results are excellent. But this camera is not in de 2 Mpixel price bracket.... Everything else on this camera I like very much, so it broke my heart I had to return it. Well... I chose to, because I think I should get a 4Mpix ...
