This camera helped me make the leap to digital, and it made the transition an easy one. Photography became a joy, like it was back when I was using film. Now that I've been using it for 7 years I'm ready to move on - it's slow to turn on, slow to focus, and I'm having a difficult time getting close-up shots of detailed jewelry (my other hobby). This is still a very good camera though.

After two years, I love the camera. I bought it after selling my SLR gear as it became too heavy to carry around (one gets old). It doesn't deliver the quality of my old canon gear but the small size, light weight and the fact that I don't do large prints make it a worthwhile trade off. I wish the accessory lenses were more affordable though. I'm trying to find a replacement for this little gem but I'm not sure the improvements of the newer FZ models are worth it. Maybe the better IS and ...

OK, it's been over a year since anyone posted anything here, and probably this will never be read. However. I have had this camera for several years and I am still trying to find the right one to replace it. I wish manufacturers would pay attention to the form factor of this camera. It is the right size, the right weight, handles well, and has enough lens. Things they keep screwing up on new "superzoom" cameras and other potential upgrades: 1. No viewfinder - what could they be ...

I agree with all the good news mentioned earlier with this camera. Problems: 1. Takes too long to turn on and then go to full zoom. 2. Electronic viewfinder drives me crazy. It's too low resolution, and colors get lost, so it's hard to find the subject. Maybe I'm ready for a DSLR.

I've had it about 8 months now. Great in low light (took some fantastic concert photos) Problems: I haven't encountered any problems so far. I bought an extra battery (not fond of proprietery batteries).

After 5000+ pictures, I love this camera. I have used it extensively while sailing for 8 months in the Caribbean. It has accidently been dropped to a hard surface from 3 feet, and from 18 inches, and survived unscathed - truly amazing build quality! I purchased aftermarket batteries and 12V charger from Hong Kong for a very low price, and they have worked as well as the original. I bought this camera for $250, but got sucked into buying accessory lenses, which are both unnecessary, and ...

I have had this camera for about six months and am very pleased with it. People mention the noise at high ISO settings and that is a valid point, but look what you get in the trade-off. The noise is just a natural result of a very small sensor and the high amplifications necessary at low light levels. But that small sensor lets you have a compact zoom with a low f-number. If you wanted a 36 - 400 mm, f 2.8 lens with a full-frame sensor, you are talking about a large piece of hardware. ...

I haven't had this camera but a couple of days, but thus far I am VERY impressed with its performance. I am a die hard Nikon fan, and owned a Nikon 8800 which was my favorite digital, but this one is definitely a close 2nd. I will eventually (next year?) buy a dSLR, but figured I'd wait another year to see what Nikon comes out with then. I was leery of buying anything other than a Nikon, but because Nikon does not currently have any long zoom point and shoots out there right now, I ...

It is hard to believe they could have packed so much into one small light camera that is easy to use one handed. This camera can be an 18x optical zoom by reducing image size down to 3MP. And since at 3MP you are only using the center of the lens which is the best part, image quality is great, good for 8x10 and with a little bit of work, 11x14. The only ergometric problem is that so many buttons are double or triple duty. It takes a while to learn it. Problems: Noise, noise, and more noise ...
