Bought this brand new when they were launched and it serves me well. Image quality is reasonable, but there are other 4MP cameras with better image quality, like the Olympus C765 UZ. I like the 12X zoom. Build quality is good and it never gave me any problems. Problems: On/Off switch is a bit erratic now.

My two-month-old FZ4 is a replacement for my old LC5 (which is now my wife's). The FZ4 is a delight to use, especially for sports and wildlife, being small, light and fast. Just be sure to use Program setting rather than "heart" and use lower ISO settings as much as possible (this applies to any digital P&S). Incidentally, I looked first at the FZ5 but the FZ4 was $80-90 less, going for less than $250, including S&H. Problems: EVF/LCD button hard to use when shooting; LCD is pretty useless in ...

Excellent performance for the $$. I am very impressed with OIS and the 12x zoom lens. The camera is also incredibly fast and responsive. Focus and shutter lag feels dSLR class. Picture quality is excellent and the camera is very flexible. The only conditions that really stress it are low light situations. Problems: 1) Feels kinda light and plasticy, but seems to be well made. 2) Not a strong performer in low light at high ISO values. The OIS can help though allowing longer shutter speeds ...

I'm using this baby about two months now, made some 1000+ pics. Construction is good, camera feels and operates solidly. Still, Mega O.I.S. components shakes and rattles during ordinary walk, let alone jog, even if camera is powered down. Feature set is ok, but no RAW. Has manual mode, but limits exposure time, if not in M, so difficult to use tripod with Program mode in low light. Max exposure time, even in M mode is only 8 sec, probably to cover up noisy CCD. Image quality ok at lower ISO ...

This camera OWNS!!! This camera takes great pictures. But to truely unluck its power you need to either be familiar with aperture, shutter, and exposure settings, or read the manual. The simple mode takes decent photos but knowing the advanced features really takes your photos to the next level. The 12x optical zoom is great. And the optical image stabilization really works wonders. Simple mode does not take the greatest features. Use manual modes for better results Problems: Simple mode does ...

Had it over the weekend. Took a bunch of shots at my son's volleyball tournament. Had to use ISO 200 to get shutter speed high enough. Noise wasn't bad at all. AF was a bit slow. Got some decent pictures but the miss factor was fairly high. Back home I tried the macro in some shots. It's range was not that great. Love the 12x. This model doesn't have audio for movies. All factors considered it's going back. Will look at either the FZ5, basically the same features with 5 megapixels and audio ...
