2 megapixels? No Way! Panasonic? No Way! but with Leica, YES WAY!!! This thing blows my Canon S230 (3.2mp) out of the water. It is amazingly user friendly, with sounds, feel, speed, buttons, simplicity, size, and of course that ZOOM. I tested it through rain soaked windows, and with an L-1011 landing (tire smoke and all), then printed 8.5 X 11 photos that are beautiful. The tests were for keeping or returning - GUESS WHAT!! Addendum - I have now done further tests and I don't understand ...

As a film person for over 40 years, and having access to many cameras, (I work in a large camera store) both digital and film, the FZ-1 is an amazing camera! I show dogs and require specific features like big zoom to bring them in close at some distance away and capture them on the move. The Panasonic electronics coupled with an image stabilized 35-420mm (35mm equivalent) f2.8 Leica lens, (which is astonishing to say the least, given its size) more than fits the bill. I have tried many ...

Hi i am from Singapore, So far i had used 2 Fujifilm, 3 sony, 1 olympus, 3 nikon, 1 canon digital cameras before. Ranging from 2 to 5 megapix. This panasonic zoom monster, my 11th digital camera is splendid with its 12X optical zoom capabilities. I am not in favour of using digital zoom (for any digi-cams). For digital photographers out there, most will agree it is a real delight to discover a sharp resolution, accurate & fast focusing camera like this beast. If you had tried long zoom ...

This is my first digi cam and I love it. The 5 major reasons to buy it did not disappoint me: (1) the fast 12X Leica lens, oh, such a high fun factor, (2) the IS that work most of the time, (3) the fast speed (I am a long time SLR user) (4) though at only 2 MP, the Venus engine makes the pictures look like a 3 MP ones and allow 8R printing, (5) Weight and form factor. It feels and handles like an SLR, and feels much better than the Sony 717 in my hand. Its light weight actually allows me ...

I love this point and shoot camera. My son love this point and shoot camera. I purchased it for the sole purpose of taking pictures of my son at surf competitions. With a stabilizing 12x zoom lens, I can frame the picture. With my 3x zoom Canon Powershot 80% of the picture was ocean and 20% my son. Now it is 80% my son. Imagine being at a soccer match and taking a picture of your child across the field and everyone recognizes him/her in the print. This is now my camera of choice for ...

Good for outdoors work in good light, but otherwise leaves something to be desired. I have had this camera about a week, and carried out some test photos only. My main reason for buying it was the long optically-stabilised zoom. At this price (320 pounds sterling) it is unique. In good light outdoors, it delivers good pics for a 2mp camera, and the 4fps burst mode is great for capturing moving objects such as birds. Apart from some over exposure of very bright contrasty scenes, the quality ...

First things first! Nothing beats a TTL and I don't work for Panasonic. Been using 35mm SLR's for years and I've never liked P&S cuz its not WYSIWYG. Comments: Fixed lens is a problem cuz you don't have the option to switch to long zooms, and even if there's an add-on it still defeats the purpose as it diminishes the F-stop value (brightness). While there are models that allow change of lenses - they don't come cheap added the risk of getting dust, dirt or sand into the CCD is a real nightmare. ...

It was interesting for me as the owner of Olympus C-2100 to compare my camera with the new Panasonic Ultra Zoom. Fortunately, I had to buy a gift for a relative, and it was decided that the camera would be fine. After a week of testing (now the gift finally goes to the rightful owner!) I came to the conclusion that unfortunately Panasonic can NOT compete with my UZi. Leica lens is really great, image stabilization works fine when the lighting conditions are OK. All the standard picture modes ...

Great toy for fast shooting when travelling arround. Good picture quality for standard prints. Bracketing and series (4 pichtures/sec.) can be shot w/o entering the camera´s menu which makes a big fat +, also the outstanding 12x stabilized zoom lens (420mm at 35mm cams with an f2.8 over the full zoom range). the macro capabilities are impressive too. I put some "out of the camera" sample pictures on the www at : http://www.computer-rely.de/Gallery_2.htm So see for Yourself. Another positiv ...
