purchased the DMC FZ1 after extensive research into digital cameras and am extremely pleased. Owned an SLR for 10 years and never took the time to master the manual functions so wasn't looking for them in a digital. This camera offered the best features for my use - huge zoom, ease of use and the 2 megapixel is great for file size on the memory card. Spent a few hours with friend that had a full featured Nikon and she didn't know how to use any of the manual features that she paid twice the ...

I absolutely love this camera! I bought it because size did not matter and the HUGE zoom is so useful. There were so many cameras on the market boasting more Mega-pixels but it really is not that important for me. This camera was perfect for my OS trip. It is not too big to carry and is light also. I was able to capture so much more with this camera while travelling. I could zoom in on buildings far away and also take close-ups anywhere. My friends who took 100's of photos were still ...

Got my FZ1 for Xmas. Great camera, easy to use, and takes great pix. Nothing like it out there with 12X zoom and IS. I, like most people would hardly ever use the manual features on other cameras, so this is the best P&S available. Better than most 3 & 4 MP cameras on the market. Plus, it has the look of a serious camera. Problems: No problems thus far. Wish there was better instructions with the software. Purchased Neatimage which has been great.

I bought this camera especially for use while travelling - it's great. Very light to carry, so simple to use & the 12 x zoom is fantastic. I don't find the 2.1 megapixels a problem as my 6 x 4 prints are fine; have enlarged to 8 x 10 & result was perfectly acceptable. Just wish there was a manual over-ride to produce more creative shots. If it had a manual function & a bigger viewfinder I would happily discard my SLR. All in all, a great "fun" camera. Problems: 1. a blue tinge to some ...

Where else can you get a 12X optical stabilised zoom for any where near the price, it is so much fun for your dollar. I would be an idiot to complain about features it does not have as I new that they were not there before i bought it. It is not my first digital camera so I am tolerant of some of the cameras shortcomings, which are far worse on other often more expensive digicams. The flash is weak as are most inbuilt flashes so I will get a vivitar df200 slave flash with 100ft guide number ...

Very disappointed! The FZ1 is my first digital camera - and I am very disappointed! Maybe it is just the wrong camera for me, as almost everybody else in this forum seems to be very happy with it. The positive aspects: It is really easy to use, the handling is excellent. A 12x optical zoom in such a compact camera is unique The zooming speed is very good. The digital image stabiliser works well, even pictures taken out of a helicopter with about 8x optical zoom turned out quite clear. But ...

1. Excellent construction. All buttons are logically and ergonomically laid out, providing easy accessibility and navigation. Fast lens motor lets you zoom in and zoom out in no time, along with a fast autofocus. Leica!!! Panasonic!!! 12x OPTICAL zoom!!! Even though some people complain about the plastic casing, but hey, it reduces weight (though not by much). PS: Per the words of my native Japanese friends, Panasonic is well loved by the Japanese and its products are considered, in ...
