Nice large CCD sensor with 12.2 megapixels. Built like a champ. Problems: Unexceptable noise at ISO 400 and above. Distortion at wide angle is visible.

I have been own different of digital cameras since year 2002. I stepped to DSLR at 2006. I saw ad from local camera shop, Panasonic FX100, 99 euro only! Well, 12 mpix and great wideangle also. But I know before purchasing, that Panasonic cameras are sensible to noise. So outdoor is only option for this camera. Indoor results are much worse. Flash is weakest what I know: at ISO 80 coverage: wide: 1,6 metres, tele 0.8 metres. At outdoors results are better, but noise is still visible even at ...

The camera is easy to use, and it is light and well built. The "Intelligent ISO" mode works very well, adapting the ISO to the camera shake, and subject movement, encountered. I wish it was possible to set the minimum shutter speed to 1/15; with the current minimum, many shots are taken at 1/8 (the camera things it is best to use 1/8 and ISO 200 than 1/15 and ISO 400 if you hold the camera very steady), and they come out blurred as a result. Problems: The one major problem with the camera is ...

Just purchased two weeks ago after my Leica 2.1 Digilux died. Also purchased a 2gb SD card, extra battery and clip on Macro lens for about A$400 Most of my work is close up of goods and parts for customers. Also take pics of outside work using panoramic shots 16:9 and save via photomerge in Photoshop. Downing the image size to 800 wide pixels and saving 50% resolution gives good clarity pics under 100kb. The on/off switch occassionally gets knocked and so I leave the camera in review ...

This isn't a disastrous camera but I can assure you that the images produced by my 8 megapixel Canon S80 far exceed the quality of this so called 12 megapixel camera. It might have 12 million pixels but there's so much noise and colour bleed that the effective result is more like 6 megapixels in terms of the actual data stored! I've gone back to my S80 such is my annoyance. However the video mode isn't bad except for slightly poor audio quality and the predictable lack of dynamic zoom ...
