Refresh to the E-510 improves autofocus in live view mode and throws in a handful of minor enhancements. With a superb feature set (including in-body image stabilization) and customization options that set it apart from most of its competitors the E-520 looks very competitive on paper, but the viewfinder and image quality (particularly in challenging shooting conditions) are far from class-leading and taken as a whole the camera struggles to stand out from the crowd. Recent price cuts have made the E-520 seem a lot more attractive, and the results in good light are impressive at normal print sizes, with pleasing color and very well optimised JPEGs - and an excellent kit lens.

Opinion: Been using the 510 for almost a year, then jumped to the E-520 just when it was released. No regrets.
Few upgrades but useful ones. Shadow adjustment technology works! New sensor renders wonderful colors.
Problems: None yet. Been using the cam for a week only.
Opinion: Been using a C-765 UZ compact over last few years with overall very good results but recently decided to take the SLR plunge by purchasing an E-520 with twin lens kit.
+camera & lenses more compact & lighter than competition
+camera comfortable to hold with ample hand grip
+Very pleased with early images
+Low noise on ISOs up to 800 and still acceptable at 1600
+image stabilised body
+effective dust reduction
+live preview useful
+very good quality kit lenses
Problems: None so far
Opinion: I have had an E-1 since it first appeared, I was looking for a second camera body and was not inspired by any apart from the E-3 but could not justify the expense, my intuition told me that the E520 was for me, I have had it three weeks now and love it, image quality is first class, the image stabilisation does its job very well and is the main reason I bought the camera as I do low light photography, the 2.7 screen is a dream to use, I do not miss the top LCD that is on my E-1 as the the Super Control Panel is simple to use with more options, I made the right decision buying the E520.
Problems: Non so far
Opinion: Smashing. Took me a while to decide to jump in on the DSLR market, after having SLRs for years. I was waiting for something that was good in the hand, had great image quality, good features and was a decent price.
What I'm very impressed with here is the quality of the kit lenses - smashing. And those Olympus blues and greens are really well done.
I did loads and loads of research, and I think I bought the camera that was right for me - it's great value for money and produces superb results.
