My kid (6th grader) is interested in learning photography. I have E 420 and GF2 lying around (almost never used), and plan to get prime lens for whichever one we decide. Issue is I am not sure which is better. The purpose is to shoot nature, and some portraits.  Suggestion is much appreciated.

My dad has finally settled on the M43 system after looking about now he is not sure which one. have been looking at the Oly PEN E-P5 and Oly OM-D E-M10. I do have a Oly VF-3 he can have as TBH i have never really used it. I think he would like to have a Oly if the camera doesn't have a electronic viewfinder so he can use my VF-3 but if a Panasonic is better then i think he may give it up. reason why he likes Oly is he has a Olympus E-420. He likes landscape photography, nature, the odd...

My dad wants to move from his Olympus E420 kit to CSC was going to have a look at Oly OM-D E-M10 when its out and only buy 1 or 2 specific lenses as he will be able to use mine if he needs them. so all was good tho he really wanted the OM-D E-M1 but is out of reach price wise. then whilst looking about he saw the Fuji XE 1 with 18-55 f2.8 and 50-230 lens all for £699. really he is not sure what to do now and has asked me for some help but im sorta leaning towards the Fuji but wont say that....

Hello,What lense would you recommend for:* ski traverse of a week through the Italian Dolomites (OMD with the prime attached)* travel to Katmandu, short trekking in Nepal of the beaten track and a tiger safari in IndiaI have an OMD with the 12 and 45 mm primes and an E420 with the 14-42 and 40-150 kit zooms. I really like the 45 mm for mountain landscapes and the 12 mm for social pictures indoors and outdoors. I use the 12 mm as walk around most of the time. I hope to buy the upcoming oly...

Ay substantial differences. I think the most important thing to me is focus accuracy.  Thanks.

Yesterday I took about 25 pictures with my Olympus e420/14-54 lens, shot in Raw, ISO 100.This was the first time using my new computer setup. Win 7 instead of XP and a whole new install of all the Photo editing software that I own. Also Lightzone v4.0 was recently released. I ran my pictures thru the new version of Lightzone, my installed copy of Sagelight and PSE11 using ACR. Found out some thing unexpected. As shot the pictures of yesterday in RAW (org) are 3720 x 2800. Both Lightzone and...

Hello, I  want to shoot in bright sunlight + snow at high altitude (mountaineering)  and on the water (sailing dinghies). A marumi CP filter and the excellent lens hoods of my E420 took care for this until now.  With my OMD and the 45 mm,  max shutter speed of 1/4000 is limiting my aperture choice on the water. Hoya offers a relatively cheap set with UV, CP and 3 stop ND filter.  Is the quality ok or is it better to buy a B+W CP and ND filter separately? Is it a good idea to buy a set up ring...

Hi guys, Im new to this forum, so go easy if I have posted this in the wrong section. So basically Im looking to buy my second DSLR and Im at a crossroads. My first camera was an Olympus E420 (which I dropped and broke :( ), and so Im looking for an upgrade. Ive watched a fair few reviews on the two cameras and it would seem that the main conclusion is that the 650D has a touchscreen, wheras the D5200 has better image quality (and more MP, not that really matters to me at this level) and...

Hello, I bought an OMD to replace my e 420 on mountaineering trips.  The E420 stayed in the car most of the time because to bulky. For the same reason, i skipped the kit the 12-50 and only bought the 45 mm for portraits of the kids. Later on i am planning to buy a quality zoom for travel ( the pana 12-35 or the expected oly). What lens should i buy for mountaineering?  I am undecided between tHe 12/2 and  the 9-18!  Limited weight and bulk are important.  I also want to limit my lens...
