Olympus E-3

The autofocus stopped working a few days ago. Instead of finding the right focus, it simply moves to the left of 0.25m and stays there... The camera has firmware v1.4 for more than a year. Any suggestions?

I planned to upgrade my camera within the next 3-6 months. I had been holding out for an E-5 or its replacement, but money is going to be tight, as I recently broke my leg and am off work. I have a chance to get a new Olympus E-620 with kit lens at a great price, but have to act this week on it. It gives quite a few improvements over my old camera (better auto-focus, bigger sensor, and an articulating LCD screen being the big upgrades). How well would this camera compare to an E-3? For $450...
