In 7 months time I'll be leaving for an 18 month world packing packing trip and can't decide what lenses to take. The trip is going to be a mix of everything (hiking in the Himalayas, European cities, snowboarding in Japan, SE Asia....) as will my photos. At the moment I'm taking my EM5 with the 12-40mm and the 9mm fish eye body cap (takes up no space and is cheap). I want to take one more prime with me, the 45mm or the 75mm? I don't want to take both because I'm backpacking and weight/space...
Hi all, I am looking for some advice on my next upgrade move. Currently I have a GX1 body, 14-42mm PZ, and a PL 25mm f1.4 lens. I mainly use the camera indoor or outside at the park for baby portraits / video and some occasional scenery pictures. The PL25 was a wonder when the baby was little and couldn't move as freely. But now since she has grown up and can crawl around a lot faster, I can't get any easy close up big head shots anymore. She will just straight dash towards me and start to...
Has anyone tried the Olympus 75mm F/1.8 lens with a close-up filter for macro pictures? I am considering getting the 75mm lens and want to use it for multiple situations. With it being so sharp and with a very good macro filter, will it be useful for pictures of small flowers and such?
Hi all, I am about to jump in and get a µ4/3 camera and lenses. The body will be GX7 and it comes in black or black/silver. Lenses to buy include the Olympus 45mm and 75mm primes, which come in black or silver. I think they all look nice and would buy any combo. But I am more interested in whether one finish is more durable, less prone to scratching or scuffing or looking worn over time? Anyone with direct personal experience who can help and advise me? Hi I have just purchased a variable ND filter for the olympus 75mm 1.8 and find that because it is a variable filter i now can no longer use the lens hood with the filter attached. The filter is that just bit wider than ordinary filters to accommodate the mechanism the makes the adjustment. Is this an issue or do I return the filter and try not to save money by buying an couple of fixed filters instead? Ian
Hi everyone. I'm ready to purchase a new tele lens for my m4/3 set-up (GX1 and E-PM2, Pana 7-14, Pana 20, Pana 12-35, Oly 45). Thing is, I'm really torn between the Olympus 75mm f/1.8 prime and Panasonic's 35-100 f/2.8 zoom.My question relates to the real-life situations in which you have been using those lenses, and not to any sharpness/depth-of-field/image-stabilization issues - as you've noticed I have both Pana and Olympus bodies, I'm well aware of what kind of depth of field I get with...
