Hi, after long debate I am getting the E-M5 II and I have been looking if I should get it without lens and then buy something else thats not a kit. Anyway do you think the new 14-150 mm II is going to be a better overall companion than the kit lens 12-50? The difference in price if I get the kit vs the 14-150 mm II is around 300$ cause I have found on ebay great deals with E-M5 II + the 14-150 mm II as kit lens. I am only afraid the 0.5F difference they have will impact a lot my night photos...

Except for the difference in maximum aperture at all focal lengths, is there a big difference in image quality between the two, at say f4.0-f5.6 or so?

I am just learning to use a new used OM-D E-5 with the 12-50mm zoom leans.  I would like to set it to certain focal lengths in order to compare the camera with others I own. For example, set it to the 35mm equivalent of 28mm, 35mm, 50mm, or 90mm.  Is there any way to get the camera or the lens to indicate what focal length it is zoomed to?

am happy with my brand new OMD e-m5 it came with a olympus m zuiko 40-150mm lens, which works fine; and a m zuiko 12-50 lens which doesnt seem to work. When put it on, remove the lens cap, switch on the camera, no image can be seen in the screen nor viewfinder. It puts on auto the iso on 1600. The camera does not click nor tries to focus.  I phoned olympus USA, they suggested me to update the firmware of the camera and the lens. When i connect the camera with the lens on, olympus updater only...

Hi Folks, I have decided to upgrade from a point and shoot to omd M10. I am definitely novice and hoping this camera will inspire me to be good at photography. However, I am very confused as to which lens/lenses to buy & kick off the adventure. I have the following solid reasons to be so messed up: 1) so many options - every lens seems to be doing a particular job or being "fit" for a range. Am looking at the ones compatible and built for omd (link below) Olympus omd compatible lenses 2) I...

My E-M5 occasionally makes a rather noticeable grinding noise with the 12-50 lens.  This is substantially louder than the usual barely audible IBIS whir.  It doesn't happen all the time (I can't figure out what triggers it) and doesn't happen with any other lens. Olympus says it has never heard of this problem.  I'm thinking of going to a camera store to try another 12-50 on my E-M5 and my 12-50 with another E-M5, but the infrequent and random nature of the issue makes testing...

Hello everyone, I'm looking for a good camera bag on a budget - roughly $50. I own an E-M5 with two M.Zuiko lenses: the 12-50mm f3.5-6.3 and the 75-300mm f4.8-6.7 II. Plan on getting a fast prime in the future.  I'm leaning towards sling bags. They seem like a nice balance - comfortable and (can be) small, yet (some can) accommodate a healthy amount of personal items. Something like the Lowepro Passport Sling II. It should hold my camera with lens attached plus two extra lenses, and it has a...

I've heard here and other places that MFT zoom lenses, by the nature of the system, work best at the wide open for all focal lengths. And that stopping down doesn't really do much, and that anything much over f/8 is not worth using. I just did a series with the Olympus 12-50 on my OM-D: Aperture priority, AF on a tripod with stabilization off. I expected to see better distance detail with the lens stopped down but an overall reduction in IQ close and middle, but didn't expect to see  better...

Hi, I went to Niagara Fall to take pictures. Because I remember OMD EM5 and its 12-50mm kit Lens, which are the camera and lens I were using, are weather sealed, I kept taking picture even when the mist and water splashed onto the camera and lens. After 12-50mm kit lens dried up, the water/mist left a lot of water stain on it. See pics at the following links http://db.tt/udGr2ztdhttp://db.tt/ioKwcJ4Qhttp://db.tt/oB9VydRbhttp://db.tt/fPhdwIm4http://db.tt/yzGHiJMChttp://db.tt/yzGHiJMC I tried...

I have the silver version of E-P5, and my stores do not have the 12-50 silver version lens on shelf. How is the color match? Is it the same silver color at my top housing as at the lens? Checking this one http://www.four-thirds.org/en/special/matching.html gives me a color difference.... /Stig
