Hello, I just bought an XZ-2 from an amazon seller for $230. Received it yesterday and upon doing first shots in order to learn the camera (my first olympus) I see a tendency to clip blacks too much and thus create strange artifacts under certain circumnstances, even at iso 100. In the first shot notice the grey car at the bottom left of the photo, the shadow under the car as well as on the side has suffered from clipped blacks (1/250, f2.8, Jpeg @iso 100). At first I thought it was...
My XZ-2 started acting up a few months ago. I sent it in and there were some extensive repairs done to the electronics. Luckily it was all covered under warranty. I noticed the other day some blotches in a clear blue sky. Didn't expect to see it on a point and shoot. I'm used to that sort of thing on my dslr... So I decided to do some testing and sure enough, tons of crap showing up. See the below image of a fresh clean piece or paper (dont mind the white balance or exposure). The lens...
Suddenly today, after a nice walk-about outside, my xz2 is acting strange. Upon startup, its in a weird mode that allows only one shot. Then the shutter button no longer works. You can sometime role the mode wheel to get another shot in another mode, but then it becomes unresponsive again. The screen still shows a live view, but with no icons other than a green focus box. Sometimes the menu or playback button will not work. But while in the menu mode, pressing the shutter will not exit. Two...
Hello there, Recently I acquired a XZ-2 as a backup camera and I must say I really love it. But I did stumble upon something weird and I want to check with you if this is working as intended or there is a problem with the camera. Let's take a very low light situation, for example nighttime. The camera is set as follows: Mode: Aperture Priority ISO: 100 (fixed, not AUTO) Aperture 1.8 Exposure Compensation set to 0. Metering mode: any of them (spot, center, matrix) The issue which I encountered...
I am looking to buy a new camera primarily for my wife and also for my occasional use My hands shake a lot and image stabilization is a big criteria for me. Also I would love to have manual zoom options which I can play around with. outdoors and zoom would be a plus but I am not sure if I can carry around huge lens for that purpose. I have a canon s3 IS and have rarely used it despite the fact that it takes good pictures and videos. My wife (primary user of the camera) could be taking lots of...
Do most cameras take better pics (maybe better tonal range) when set to black and white than you would see if you converted a color pic to black and white in post using something easy like Google's Picasa or Flickr's editor? This would be for jpegs, I know RAW its a non issue.
Hi all, I'm new into what you might call auto-off shooting, and would like to set up my XZ-2 in order to have most important controls easily available when shooting on Manual. However; I find the user manual a bit messy her. Hence I was wondering; do some of you know about any "get started on advanced settings" guide on the XZ-2 or any other Olympus with similar menu system? I know this sounds a bit contradictionary - hoping still that someone could guide me to some goodies. Thank you in...
