Hello there, Recently I acquired a XZ-2 as a backup camera and I must say I really love it. But I did stumble upon something weird and I want to check with you if this is working as intended or there is a problem with the camera. Let's take a very low light situation, for example nighttime. The camera is set as follows: Mode: Aperture Priority ISO: 100 (fixed, not AUTO) Aperture 1.8 Exposure Compensation set to 0. Metering mode: any of them (spot, center, matrix) The issue which I encountered...

I am looking to buy a new camera primarily for my wife and also for my occasional use My hands shake a lot and image stabilization is a big criteria for me. Also I would love to have manual zoom options which I can play around with. outdoors and zoom would be a plus but I am not sure if I can carry around huge lens for that purpose. I have a canon s3 IS and have rarely used it despite the fact that it takes good pictures and videos. My wife (primary user of the camera) could be taking lots of...

Do most cameras take better pics (maybe better tonal range) when set to black and white than you would see if you converted a color pic to black and white in post using something easy like Google's Picasa or Flickr's editor?  This would be for jpegs, I know RAW its a non issue.

Hi all, I'm new into what you might call auto-off shooting, and would like to set up my XZ-2 in order to have most important controls easily available when shooting on Manual. However; I find the user manual a bit messy her. Hence I was wondering; do some of you know about any "get started on advanced settings" guide on the XZ-2 or any other Olympus with similar menu system? I know this sounds a bit contradictionary - hoping still that someone could guide me to some goodies. Thank you in...

Am I missing something? If I saved some settings in C-mode, I should be able to add some tweaks without erase the settings and start over? I read the manual but I can`t find any answers. Or is it impossible? It is very annoying to restart everything. It is a nice camera when you know the flaws Peter

I typically just shoot jpeg and do minor edits.  Well aware of all the pros of using RAW.  Something I dont understand is the in camera filter effects on my XZ-2. I know a lot are corny, but some look like fun to play with.  However, they really kill camera performance.  I wonder if I shoot RAW and then use the software that came with the camera (kinda embarrassed to say that I have not even installed it yet) can I apply the same effects more quickly?  I would hate to waste a good shot with...

Hey all! I'll begin a trip to Europe March next year and would like to know which camera should I choose down to 350 bucks. I've seen some Pana LF1, Canon S110, Olympus ZX2, Fuji X1, but I can't make my mind on those... I would need a rugged camera that could provide me the best possible pictures, either at landscapes and at night, since I'll be camping most of the time. Another point is that I'll be cycle touring, meaning that space is a important mather, so I've discarded bridge and super...

Hello, I’m new to the forum so I think I will first introduce myself then ask questions. I’m Italian (so please excuse my poor English) and live Hello, I’m new to the forum so I think I will first introduce myself then ask questions. I'm Italian and live in a small coastal town with my wife and my two daughters (aged 11 and 7). I have some photographic background and know the basics but have limited practical experience. My first digital camera was a 3MP Sony CyberShot P72, then I upgraded to...

I am a little confused with the modes.  I know it can do both, vertical and horizontal.  The below shot was taken with IS2, vertical stabilization because I wanted the sensor stabilized vertically while I panned horizontally.  Is that the right logic?  Also, I know LED lights will appear dotted in slow shutters but whats with that blotchy look to the upper left of frame?  Is that the sensor jumping?  Or maybe they are LEDs and that is why their reflection in the pavement appears...

Hi, I would like to ask about your experience with the MagFilter adapter/polarizer on the camera. What type and size do you use? Does it fit to the lens well? It causes some problems such as vignetting, etc..? I am thinking in particular about buying the smaller MagFilter adapter for 49 mm filters. I also know about the lens tube adapters but I do not like them because they are too large. Thank you very much for your help! Lukas
