Opinion: poor camera
Opinion: Whats great? Construction and waterproof, sleek looking.I thought I would try it out thinking 3.64 image rating was only because of 4 people rating it.... well they were accurate but its an overall good little camera as I am spoiled on larger zooms and cameras with view finder. the bottom line is this is much better in noise and better at not over or under exposing photos then the 800. Some shots are good but like the earlier model Olympus 8 00 stylus, the 8 megapixel chip is too noisy for this small lens. thats all she wrote. So much noise in anything but good but this is newer and a bit better then the Oly 800 in noise Each shot is a surprise and unpredictable in all aspects like the earlier 800 with a bit faster response rate then the 800, no settings for sharpness or contrast or shutter speed, was a big disappointment and no viewfinder was bad. exposure and white balance while ok was not anything to write home about and no custom white balance. The good photos were very good but not exceptional and no real reason to get this to be honest and slightly disapointed. The construction seemed to be good and bottom line is this is better then Hp and polaroid but thats all .......my opinion. The resolution is only ok
Problems: what was olympus thinking? You buy any olympus at this price point your not getting close to quality of a dslr or good Nikon in my opinion They improved from the Oly 800 but still this is for amateurs who are not demanding.
Opinion: I originally bought the 720 SW, but was very unhappy with the indoor image quality, although I loved everything else about the camera. I decided that maybe the problem had to do with the internal, optical zoom mechanism instead of the standard type of zoom (I don't even really know what the difference is). I decided that I would give this a try, especially since Best Buy offered to waive the restocking fee if I wasn't happy. Outdoor pictures were good, but the indoor picture quality was very poor, equivalent to the 720 SW with the grainy quality, especially on the dark colors.
Problems: Indoor picture quality was very poor. I think that the 720 SW is a better camera, but I won't stand for either of them with the poor picture quality. Both of them have already been returned to the store.
Opinion: Great camera, had it two weeks and loving it. Olympus doesnt promote one feature of the 810 that is unique and to my knowledge no other camera has:
- It can ZOOM in and out during video!
To do this you must have the "Digital Zoom" ON (in the menu selection)
Opinion: Got the camera for one day. I found the image quality is OK in good lighting condition. The build quality of the camera is good. Also it is very light and small in size.
Problems: Lots of noise when photo in low light condition. Limited continues shooting ability. The biggest problem I had was when shooting video, audio record very loud internal camera noise. I will send the camera for a exchange
Opinion: I purchased the 810 myu yesterday from Akihabara in Tokyo for ~$430AU. I'm really happy with that price!
Construction I gave 4.5 because everything about the camera feels solid and it's good to hold in the hand. But the rubber hinge on the USB door I felt could have been better to complete the overall feeling of a good solid camera.
Features... I'm loving everything to do with it! For a P&S camera what more could you need? Nothing! If you want more get a dSLR.
I've only taken a couple hundred photos since my purchase yesterday and as far as I can tell the quality of the images is superb. Definitely use the custom settings for the best result as the Automatic function just can't beat a good set of eyes.
It's extremely easy to use, extremely. I was to find how to switch it from Japanese to English immediately. The menus are very intuitive.
As for the price, you can't beat Akihabara on value there. Included I got a 1gig Olympus xD card also and I purchased a spare battery for $20AU.
Problems: I would have liked the LCD screen to have come with a small piece of plastic to protect the screen. This is another couple of dollars I shouldn't have to purchase. But this is hardly a big problem.
To Danny_photolover; it's not a video camera!
