Opinion: This is a great little camera. When they say weatherproof they weren't kidding. Don't ask why, but this camera has fallen into a toilet, and was rescued to be perfect! Such a great camera.
Problems: Sadly, when it was on a trip with someone else, something happened to the camera and now all the pictures are over-exposed.
Opinion: This is the oh-darn it's raining camera. It is weatherproof, a key feature some other makes don't provide. Like most weatherproof cameras, no viewfinder other than the LCD.
Also it is not image stabilized.
It does allow pictures to be taken in conditions where one would never put the expensive, weather-vulnerable equipment outside.
Problems: Auto ISO is very strange. Close-up of cat using flash, ISO chosen was 400. Twilight shot of mall parking lot, ISO chosen was 64 (!). On the LCD the image looked fine&bright, but on the monitor it is just a blur.
False-colour is much more noticeable than on my other cameras, ie grey cat shows coloured beads on hair at minor magnification (can almost see it on the computer monitor without zooming).
I use force-ISO-200 and shoot carefully braced.
I am watching to see if the Stylus 780 will be a better choice - stabilzed, and a different image processor.
Opinion: Nice camera in many ways, esp the weatherproofing and construction.
Easy to set up and use though menu system took a little getting used to, results pleasing for beginner.
Problems: Big problem with image quality. If camera used in basic program mode you can set resolution up to full 6mP. However if you use the Scenes mode the available light programs reduce the resolution to 1mP as well as increase sensitivity. I can't see wy anyone would use a 6mP camera to store 400kB files with no way of overriding the set-up.
Solution avoid available light modes and chech camera resolution is set for max in other modes which default to 5mP.
Wierd logic for what should be great camera.
Opinion: good points
-start up time
-battery life
-macro mode
-wide range of scene choices
-in camera editing
-weather proof seal
-small
bad points
-no sound in movie mode
-slow data transfer rate
-reduced resolution at higher ISO
Opinion: The image quality is really poor. It was a real disapointment
Opinion: It's a good camera to keep in your pocket.
Those of you who expected to get professional results in their photographs from a compact camera should think twice.
A compact camera is meant to help us take pictures anywhere we go without needing to carry equipment and stuff but it's not built to eliminate the SLRs or the DSLRs...
Knowing that the traditional film "gives us" at least 20megapixels(considering the asa and the trade), the digital photography section is like a newborn now.
Problems: The usual problems of compact digital cameras...
Opinion: Camera sucked and returned to the store. I was extremely dissapointed that Olympus actually put this camera in to the market.
Focusing was a pain, and it rarely ever produced a sharp picture. Whit balance was horrible and the colors looked washed out.
I would have expected these results from a $30 key chain camera, not one that cost $300.
This was my fouth Olympus camera to own and it really put a bad taste in my mouth. I am still a loyal Oly customer but I warn you to stay away from this camera.
Problems: see above
Opinion: Easy to use, good menus, quite well made, fashionable.
Problems: Picture quality, especially in low light, is not very good. Detail is poor, especially in trees. I expected much more from a 6 megapixel camera, but it is worse than my old (Canon) A20 (2 mp)
Opinion: LCD screen cracked unreasonably at first time usage, neither fall nor shock.
Featured with many scene modes, but after trial, you wont use it at all because of its un-control, non-transparent info., un-stable image quality.
Auto Focus not accurate, both tele and macro.
Movie clip has NO sound, after trial, you wont use it at all.
User un-friendly menu-design as it lack of a quick dial. You have to repeat pressing buttons in-between sub-menus.
Problems: LCD screen cracked unreasonably at first time usage, neither fall nor shock. Maintenance Service Center does not provide free warranty service without concrete reasons.
Really question about my Mju 600 LCD screen's quality during manufacturing or quality assurance process before the camera goes into the retail market!
