After many doubts reading reviews here about the Olympus SW Series, I bought this camera a month ago and now after about 1000 photos taken (about 200 diving in the beautiful waters of beautiful Fuerteventura :-) my statement so far: If you handle the camera with care, it is indeed waterproof (I swam everytime about 45 Minutes and had no problems). BUT: Before you have to check it exactly before (sand, hairs at every seal - battery and USB) After under water experience salt water you have to ...

We bought this camera stictly for using as a snorkling camera to go with another brand camera we use for snorkling. We took it to Cozumel at the end of May and spent 5 days with it in the water, averaging 5 hours per day. Using the underwater mode on Macro it did good with a couple of issues. Between our two cameras we took around 400 pictures underwater, about 125 with the Olympus after deleting the worst ones. The macro pictures were good after learning the camera and finding the focus ...

Received this camera today. The still image quality is excellent and I've tried it out taking underwater pictures of my Koi carp in my pond al lwithout any problems (no water leaks on this one!). The features on the camera are pretty impressive, lots of different modes and even an unlimited movie mode without the firmware update (guess they are shipping with the latest firmware already) Image quality and sharpness are great and noise upto iso200 is more than acceptable. Above this it's ...

Image Quality sucks, in fact it was so bad, I took it back to the shop and requested a refund. I had been very happy with my Canon Ixus 75, until my 2yr old dropped it and destroyed it, so I decided the Olympus 1030 might just be the camera for me, because of the sheer durability. Now when I forked over $600AUD for this, I understood I am paying a premium for all that durability and waterproofing technology and it won't produce as good a shots as any other $600 point and shoot, however I did ...

I bought this camera like everyone else for its underwater ability and I haven't been disappointed. 4 weeks in Hawaii and multiple trips underwater and this camera performed flawlessly. I have taken some great photos that I would otherwise never have had the opportunity to do with a normal point and shoot. Now with the updated firmware the camera just got even better. Problems: When surfacing from taking photos underwater you can get drops of water on the lens that need to be shaken off ...

I thought the camera performed well as a point and shoot camera. A bit bulk, but it is designed as waterproof and shockproof camera. With this in consideration the bulk is very acceptable and can fit in one's pocket well. It has performed well in image quality and noise in a wide range of situations, from normal outside nature, night photos, and flash portraits in low lighted areas (like clubs). Overall was pleased with it's performance. While, it can't compare to most DSLRs it is also ...

Even better than my 770SW, but Problems: Even after careful preparation it leaked in the battery compartment on first immersion and died for good.

about the 10 sec limitation for movie at 640fps, olympus has a firmware update to allow unlimited recording(subject to memory card size). just came from a beach outing and so far so good. got some underwater shots, albeit not as clear due to the visibility is not so good, waves are a bit strong. fun to use as we frolic underwater to get some shots... i was able to capture some fishes around 2 meters deep. Problems: none so far.

Good camera? yes. Waterproof? not really! I am conflicted on this camera. I have had it for a month and played with it a lot before going to the Carribean sea on vacation. Indoors, outdoors, in a moving vehicle, on the beach, just off the beach in water, in a kayak, it does it all in stride. All my photos were taken at 5MP to save card space. The "shake-proof" mode is uncanny: I took pictures at max zoom bouncing in a bus at 30mph and the pictures were crystal-clear. Too bad it can't be
