Opinion: I am very happy with the camera. Very good value for money and simple to use. I bought the camera 2 weeks ago and taken over 500 photos so far

Image quality is excellent in good lighting conditions and average under poor conditions. Flash photography is good though i find it tends to be a tad an the blue side. Image stabilization is great in extreme telephoto mode though its best to brace against a steady object when using it. Colour and sharpness are excellent. I was considering purchasing a Nikon P90 but decided over Olympus from prior experience (my first SLRs way back when were Olympus -OM1, OM2 and OM10 and other Olympus equipment) and the fact that batteries are not propitiatory

Problems: Camera tends to hunt for focus when using extreme telephoto and under poor lighting conditions - can be annoying...

Other than that, its a wonderful camera!!!

Opinion: Excelente cámara compacta, la adquirí para reemplazar una Sony S-60, lo mejor el zoom, calidad de las imágenes y facilidad de uso. Totalmente recomendable.

Problems: La tapa del lente se sale al encenderla.

Opinion: Upgraded from SP-550uz. Prefer using Electronic View Finder (EVG), but lost feature to review image captured in EVF which provided confirmation of good image.
Also, various sound levels are adjustable EXCEPT the focus confimation 'BEEP' which is loud in many settings. No way to adjust it or turn it 'off' without muting all sounds.

Contacted Olympus Tech Support and was confirmed that these features are not available on the SP-590uz.

Focusing is still slow in many situations.

Image quality is better than the SP-550uz or would return the camera for refund.

Opinion: Bought this camera: 1. because it was on sale, at a very good bargain price. 2. because I have enjoyed previous Olympus cameras (film & digital), 3. because of its astounding features, and 4. because my current camera - Panasonic FZ-30 - has a shocking track record in low light, and even not-so-low light scenes. I was able to photograph the full moon, at full (26x optical !) zoom and get a clear picture with lunar details clearly visible.

Problems: The lens tube seems to be a bit loose in its mounting, and I'm wondering if this is going to cause problems at a later stage.

Opinion: Purchased to replace my oly C750UZ. Familiar and expanded menu system & features, better ergonomics, etc. Camera response is much better than than the C750UZ.
