Quality of workmanship and construction is excellent. Fetures are outstanding and unavailable on any other camera. Simple to operate for basic photos but you must spend time learning the more advanced capabilities of this camera. Well worth the money and a camera that you will keep a a main-stay. Problems: Miss the flash hot shoe (auxiliary flash is connected via cable).

A peculiar purchase was what I would classify my buying the E100. I actually was turned on to this cam after months of research, looking for a faster, more reliable megazoom cam with IS. I had a Canon Pro 90IS for almost 2 years before I bought this cam (May 2003). I must say it is the fastest camera I have ever owned period. Great low light capability for a 10 x cam. Great feel, easy to use just a nice piece. My only real gripe was the 1.5 MP sensor but I have learned to live with it and ...

Super fast shooting! I like the pre-capture idea, you will never have shutter lag. S-Prog is very useful, however, you need to access the menu everything you want to change it. Good IS lens produces great 1.5M image. With the built-in red led, you can shoot precisely even in complete darkness. Problems: Noise is a major problem of this camera. 1.5MP is also a concern if you are going to print photo larger than 4R.

First on the "Value for Money": I wouldn't have paid the $2,100 or so that it first cam out at (though now that I've used it, I can see its value.) I hope Olympus didn't get burned on their R&D when a lot of buyers didn't bite until the price dropped. I want them to make a newer version of it! I got mine new on e-bay in July 2002 for $550 U.S. — mainly to shoot sports and anything else for the small town newspaper (Hopestandard.com) that I freelance for. In six months, it has paid for itself ...

Only one comment...The specifications listed for the E100RS at this site are incomplete in one area - that's 'media type.' This site lists media type as Smart Media. That's true, but there is no mention that this camera also accepts CompactFlash cards and can hold one of each card type simultaneously - a distinct advantage.

Have had the E-100 since last christmas. Wonderful camera and way ahead of my earlier Olympus C1000L (whichi still use sometimes for old times sake) . Good grip, excellant zoom and shutter speeds (though u need good light). Not planning to buy a new cam for a long long time. Problems: Focusing in low light is a problem.

Watched the Website for several months for a "factory" reconditioned E-100RS to come available at emporiumolympus.com for US$1,000 below original retail price. Just learning its features and use, but respect this camera a great deal already. Used an Olympus OM-1 for 25 years but liked it less towards the end than I like this one after the first ten days; the OM-1 actually proved less relable. The reconditioned camera has all the accessories the new one did (except that USB transfer is now ...

An amazing camera! I haven't had any focusing issues as some other reviewers have mentioned. The 38-380mm zoom is very versatile. You can add a wide angle or teleconverter and make the camera even more flexible. The 49mm threads are a big help. I always keep a UV filter on mine. The dual media comes in handy. I shoot full res SHQ and get 538 pictures on my 512mb CF card, 137 pictures on my 128mb SM card. This enables me to take a vacation for a week & not have to worry about running out of ...

My third digicam in 15 months & hopefully my last for a while. Upgraded?! from a C-700UZ to this one, E-100's IS ability just steals the show hands down!! Feel & quality a big added bonus. ps: Chromatic Abboration on this cam is down atleast 90% over my C-700 in side by side testing. Problems: Ya, finding one 2 years after its initial release! (I think i found the last one in Australia :)
