Olympus D-580 Zoom (C-460 Zoom)

I like to take landscape and wildlife shots. I had a Nikon Coolpix 990 which was sort of my pretend DSLR. It died and I decided to get an inexpensive point and shoot until the real DSLRs were affordable. Bought this camera refurbished with 512 Meg Card. All pictrues were taken in SHQ Format and loved the way the pictures looked when printed. My 11 year old daughter borrowed it for a school trip and when I viewed the pictures, it was as if I had been on the trip myself. Great camera for beginner photographer. This is the camera that finally made me leave 35mm behind for good. Have owned mine for over 18 months and have shot thousands of photos. Beautiful prints up to 8 X 10 even with some cropping. My first Olympus. Remarkably resilient camera for this category as well. I'm so happy with it that I just last week traded in all my SLR 35mm equipment to buy the Olympus Evolt 300. Looking forward to seeing the results from that but I'll still keep my little D-580 right in my shirt pocket ...

In Brazil, this camera is expensive, the resolution is quite good, it's easy to manipulate. Problems: Low time of battery, the macro is quite irregular and don't have an ISO manual control...

My first digicam. Great macro mode, easy to use, compact, long battery life Problems: Average movie mode, bad ISO400 photos, bad tele photos in low light (due to little aperture). After all, it got a very strange autofocus problem, that couldn't be solved, after 2.5 months of service maintenance and no visible problem solving I swapped it to other camera.
