Opinion: Image quality is good for a 3.2MP camera (as long as you have fresh batteries or a AC adapter). I bought it as a open box model. Came with the manual, CD, wrist strap, 16MB XD-Card, and 2 AA arkaline batteries. Bought it for US $280 in 2003. I presumed Olympus company made this camera well since I had many other camera from them such as PEN-F, other SLRs and Point and Shoot. However, this camera was a dud. I would not reccommend this camera, even if you recieve it for free, since it will just be dead weight (Read Problems).
Problems: -Batteries run out only after 5~6 shots. Its renders this camera practically useless since it cannot last longer than a couple hours even when turned off.
-The lens barrel wiggles around, and the lens barrier does not move smooth. THe Lens barrier also makes the camera take a long time to turn on.
-Time, Date, frame number and all presets get reset after changing batteries. Even if the batteries are changed within a matter of seconds.
- Movies are limited to 15 seconds with no sound.
Opinion: Good picture quality, easy to use.
Problems: Battery life is horrible, even with lithium batteries, I was able to only get about 60-70 shots. The battery meter is useless, comes on when the battery is already dead.
Night mode is terrible, shots always come out blurry.
No sound mode on video.
Opinion: This was my first real digital camera and the reason I will never ever buy another Olympus again, no matter the characteristics.
I bought this camera in Austria sometime in 2003 and paid for it 300EUR, which was a huge amount of money for such a piece of junk camera, as I was to find out for myself later.
Problems: First of all, the battery life is so bad that after only a few pictures (2-3) using flash and LCD the indicator shows the battery as being almost empty and gives out a warning signal. So, you'd need a fresh supply right after that.
Second, if you don't use the flash then, maybe, you'll get a decent amount of pictures (not many though... 20-30 at best). But, being that the exposure time is bigger and that the camera does not have image stabilization, you'll need a surgeon's hand not to get a shaky photo.
The start-up time is very slow. Don't ever try and photograph something moving fast because you'll probably not get the camera functioning in time and, even if you do, it will not focus in time or you'll get such a blurry/shaky picture that it would be worthless.
Anyway, I was so happy to get rid of it! If a manufacturer sells a camera that is from the beginning a mess-up than it does not respect it's name and the buyer that pays for that. So, in my opinion, that manufacturer is not worthy of my business ever again. One misfire too many!
Opinion: It takes pictures for a few minutes that look decent.
Problems: This piece of junk EATS batteries. If you put fresh batteries in, it will usually say that they are near death (turning the camera off and on again then shows they are full). If you leave the batteries in the camera, they die in about 10 hours. In all, I can get 5-10 pictures in a day before the batteries die. The same batteries in my Canon last over a month and I can take hundres of photos. Tried different batteries, no good. DO Not Waste your money. I am pissed. No More Olympus for me.
Opinion: I purchased this camera just over 1 year ago and am very pleased with it so far. It only has 3.2 megapixels however the camera produces excelent quality images with no wrong colouring and skin tone is also very good. The controls and facilities are slightly limited and so would really only be classed as a point and shoot camera and an excelent buy for beginners.
Problems: So far no problems however when I recently went on holiday, a very small amount of fine dust became trapped in the optical lense and as a result scratched the out casing of the lense.
Opinion: Total Crap!
I have nothing good to say about it, so move on down to the 'problem' section...
Problems: Where to begin?? What didn' t go wrong with this camera?? From day 1, it has given me nothing but grief. I believe I must have gotten a dud...cuz there is no way, a camera would be this crappy!!
I missed SO many photo ops because it would only allow me to take 3 pictures at most...
It's been in for repairs 2 times...for what?? I don't even know! And the saddest thing is, the company I bought it from...LONDON DRUGS!! won't do anything about it, but keep sending it away for repairs...that's BS!!
A company like Olympus should stand behind their products.
Too pissed to write more...
DON'T buy this camera.....it'll give you nothing but grief!
Opinion: I tried a few different cameras before I picked this one up. It felt intuitive, not unlike a pair of well-used jeans. I thuroughly enjoy the size and layout of the unit. I know that it is a limited camera, though I think Olympus did some very good work here.
I really like how this camera responds to all sorts of lighting; it shoots well indoors and outdoors, low light and no light. I found it easy to favorably manipulate the white balance, and other features were standard. I wasn't pleased with this camera's macro function, though. It cannot focus much closer than 1 foot, which was severely disappointing, especially after using my sister's Kodak Easyshare.
One thing that I liked very much was my camera's panorama function. A string of pictures, once processed by the packaged Camedia software, makes one long picture that describes a scene very well. I would warn against using this function in small rooms, as things become highly curved. Unfortunately, the pro software is necessary for making any really nice panoramas.
Problems: My computer has a VIA chipset, an AMD processor, and runs XP, so my camera forces it to restart every time I let them talk too long. There is a firmware update available, but I don't want to send my camera away for something that I can circumvent. I find that if you keep their connection time short, the problem is non-existant.
I had the same false low battery signal that others have reported. Sometimes, after just a few shots on fresh batteries, the low power indicator would show up, then turn the camera off a few shots later. Letting it sit, or changing the batteries, or opening the battery cover and closing it again will let you take many more pictures on the same batteries. Not a big problem, just an annoyance.
Opinion: Purchased this camera 8 months ago and everything was going along fine. Good photos especially using SHQ.
Problems: I was looking forward to using this camera on a trip to the Southwest this Sept., however, all of a sudden the camera just died....not a battery problem either. It just stopped communicating with my PC and then went completely dead. The camera has now gone in for repair and I am going to have to go back to my 35mm film camera for my trip. Very disappointed!!
Opinion: I have purchased this camera to replace my Fuji Finepix-3800. I needed a smaller size camera I could put in my pocket when traveling. I still miss my 3800. Why?! because nothing will ever replace a large lens.
The 560 takes cool shots with little or no efforts but limited when comes to professional photography. Plus it has a 5-mm lens. It's a good all around family camera for aver day use. Including indoor shots. Creates awesome outdoor pictures and it looks sexy! :) Uses AA size batteries which is a bonus and it has a large and clear 1.8-inch LCD. Macro shots are somewhat off and almost impossible to take with the optical viewfinder. When using the LCD, this camera eats your battery in no time! Just use the optical VF + Zoom, instead of LCD/Macro. Bottom line is: AFFORDABLE!
Problems: Bad macro,
Eats batteries with LCD on,
No sound with movies
Small 5-mm lense,
No rechargable batteries included
