Opinion: Good camera - reliable, rugged, takes good photos. Great panorama feature - stitches seamlessly! Even 360 degree panoramas! Cover good at protecting lens.

Problems: Heavy unit, likes batteries (takes 4).

Opinion: I purchased this camera right when it came out in 2000, right when my son was born. I have had alot of fun with it, it still works almost perfectly despite being dropped multiple times. A couple of times the battery seemed to die very fast, but taking them out and back in again usually fixed it.
I have been getting alot of pictures out of the batteries, probably because I rarely use the LCD display.
The pictures are very good, and I am happy with the quality. It only has serial connection, and transferring pictures use alot of power. It is also sometimes slow to focus and to take pictures. I am still happy with it, and could probably live with it for another year or two without too much pain, but I am looking to replace it, probably with eth Sony H2, in a few weeks.

Opinion: This was my very first Digital camera, and I still own it and wouldn't part with it. It takes great pictures in any type of light setting. It truely is a shame that its discontinued, but for all of us that have the pleasure of owning one, we know the greatness of 2.1 Megapixels.

Problems: Don't leave batteries in Camera if not using. Mine have drained on me twice by doing so. Otherwise No problems.

Opinion: CAMERA FAILED AFTER LESS THAN A YEAR!

I bought this as my second digital camera. It worked great and captured some very sharp images. Nice feature set and good feel. Then, without warning, it stopped working. I take exceptional care of my cameras, so I was stunned when the camera would not turn on when I engage the sliding lens hood. I followed the instructiions for non-responding cameras posted on the Olympus web site, but the camera will still not work. Checked with my local authorized Olympus retailer and they said it would cost a minimum of $250 to diagnose and repair the camera. NO WAY!

I'm done with Olympus! This evening I purchased an inexpensive Sony DSC P-31 for my daughter. It works great and takes outstanding photos. It is the fourth Sony digicam that we now own. A high-end Sony will be in this house by Christmas.

Problems: Meticulously cared for camera failed after less than a year. The camera will no longer turn on and Olympus wants $250 to make it right. No more Olympus cameras in my well-stocked camera bag!

Opinion: Overall this is a good camera, it takes good pictures and works in many different situations.

Problems: It's realatively heavy for its size, also it has a slow response time for taking the picture, so don't plan on capturing the moment unless it's posed. (Don't use it on moving objects)

Opinion: I purchased this camera Jan. 2001, so I've had it for about a year-and-a-half and love it! I've taken thousands of photos with it. I can print beuatiful 8x10 photos on my Epson 880 printer. There's a lot of control over the shots IF you read the manual and learn how to use it correctly. The color and detail is wonderful. Have recommended this camera to dozens of people who ended up buying it and love it also. I've had increadibly good luck with battery life - I purchased the NIMH recharger and 2 sets of batteries - I always keep a fully charged extra set with the camera, along with several extra 64mb & 32mb media cards. When I DO upgrade to a higher resolution, it will definitely be another Olympus.

Problems: None, really - I got a free Zio Reader with my camera - and that is really the best way to go for fast transfer to your computer. The serial connection is useless...

Opinion: I've took about 10,000 photos with this cam.

My opinion: pretty good point-n-shot camera if you are not looking 4 masterpieces and do not want to spend lots of money on camera.

Problems: The first and MOST serious disadvantage - CONTRAST!!! Very often the sky is white instead of being blue?? And ground is too dark simultaneously. But it seems that the camera is able to get good color information from the matrix.
The second disadvantage - it's unable to turn movie mode on quickly: you have to walk through the menu and submenu...
3rd: sometimes the camera is "ringing" when flashcard is removed and sometimes it does not.
4th: fastening hole is too soft - it's not allow to fix the camera stably.
5th: In the _complete_ darkness the aufocus within the flash works wrong: it focuses at about 1m despite real distance...
etc...

Opinion: We bought this camera for use at work in our engineering office. It has really been a real timesaver for us. The images are great. We have used this camera now for about 2 years. no problems.

Problems: Wish it was USB compatible. It would be nice if the lcd was easier to see outside.

Opinion: Construction of the lens cover is scary at best! Over time it is bound to push the lens out of alignment. The small memory card that comes with it is way too small. Close up macro photography is average. This would be a good camera for a first time, snapshot oriented family. No serious photographers would be happy with it. LCD screen eats up the battery life and simple viewfinder is not accurate. Pictures are digital, therefore they are clear and have good color (no credit to the camera, however). I have used an Epson first generation (years ago) and this really doesn't take any better looking pictures. I have been an exacting photograhper for many years and this was my first digital camera. I am going to upgrade now that I have had it for a year. NOTE: The 64Mb optional card and the optional card reader (a must) turns this into a very high priced camera..so don't be fooled. Spend the money on a higher quality camera or buy it on eBay for cheap. Don't pay retail.

Problems: With needed options it gets very expensive..battery charger, rechargeable batteries, decent size memory card (they only give you 8Mb with it), card reader (a must), carrying case. Camera will lock up for no reason and have to be turned off to reset it. Long time delay from the time the shutter button is pressed and the picture is taken.
