If you need a long zoom range, can find the camera at a bargin price, can't wait for the 730-UC, and have the patience to read the manual, its worth considering. I bought this on the strength of its zoom, the most economic option on the market when compared to the Fujis, Minoltas and Nikons and it was smaller too. On paper the camera sold me. The reality was then rather dissapointing and I realised there had to be a price to pay for such a combination of features. Focussing in low light or ...

I put buying a digital camera off for a long tme as I never thought that they could equal the pictures I took with my 35mm. I recently purchased the 720UZ after much debate and homework. I am pleased beyond belief with this camera. As well as all of the auto modes for the wife to take pictures of the kids. It allows me to adjust settings the way I like them. I spent a little more money than I wanted on this camera but I am glad I did. I havge to say it took some time getting used to the menu ...

I have had an Olympus 720 since July and have thoroughly enjoyed it, although it did take me some time to learn how to get the best picture quality. My initial pictures came out slightly out of focus. I have learned that the autofocus on this camera is somewhat touchy. If you will press the shutter button halfway and allow the camera a second to focus, you will rarely have an out of focus shot. Another thing to remember is that when you use the zoom, you forget how much you are zooming ...

This is my first digital camera and I had a hard time deciding on how much money to spend and what features are important, especially when you want a good "all around" camera. It was the 8X optical, 24X digital that sold me on this camera. A friend gave me some advice saying it dosen't matter how good the camera is, if the optical quality is low, then you will have low quality pictures. I looked at many cameras at the $500.00CAD range and found that they were fine and would do the job. But ...

Sports Mode - forget it. In line with other cameras with electronic viewfinders as soon as you press the shutter you lose the picture in the viewfinder. If you are trying to track a fast moving object this can be disasterous for composition. I tried putting it on sequential shooting mode in the hope that one of the shots will be OK - no good, as for some reason the mininum shutter speed in this mode is 1/30th sec and even the slowest tracking will give you blurred pictures. So if you're into ...

This is my second Digital Camera, my first being an Olympus 490Z. All in all I found the transistion to this one easy and the image quality much better. I was particularly interested in two features when I selected the 720, the zoom range and the added pixel count. I found that it was very intuitive to operate particularly in light of the many similarities to the 490Z. Still there are sime things I do not like. The Auto Focus is very touchy, the Macro Mode is somewhat cryptic to get into and ...

I've been a 35MM user for 30+ years. This is my first DC so the skepticism was there. I've had the camera for a month and I am pleased with the results. I did research prior to this purchase on several name brands. For $600(US) I believe I did get my money's worth. The long telephoto is one of the main reasons I bought the camera (hard to beat for the price). I purchased a Tiffen accessory adapter ($10) plus a Tiffen UV and Polarizer filter kit ($20) that helps a lot on improving image ...

Excelent features included in a small box. The camera is easy to operate (virtually all buttons are in the scope of your numb). the image quality is excelent, as for 3 mpix cam. Regardless the chromatic aberration prompted by other users, I've found hardly any examples of the on my photos. Zoom adjustment is quite fast (comparing to my Fuji conventional 35mm compact camera).Although it takes qhite a time to let AF work, it gives sufficient effects. Flash works great for up to 3 meters ...

I am a newbie digital camera user and choose the C-720UZ to be my first toy. I picked this camera for the excellent optical zoom more than anything else and love my outdoor shots. Even being a newbie user, I found he menu not too difficult to use (after browsing the manual for a bit). Problems: I haven't encountered too many problems with the main problem being user error. I am already experiment with manual settings, i.e., apature/shutter priority and making plenty of mistakes but that's ...
