Opinion: Bought mine in Japan for under $500. Very similar to the C-2100 in features. I have taken over 700 pictures with it so far and I am more excited about it today than the day I bought it. I didn't bother to read the manual 'cause the one I bought was in Japanese, but the menus were simple to learn, and it has tons of manual controls to let you take great shots
