very good little camera ....
S7
Problems: None
Opinion: Don't buy this if you want a robust camera.
I bought this camera for my wife.
I am waiting to send it back for repair, but I need to pluck up courage to do that due to the poor experience I've had with Oly repair.
Problems: The front cover has to be held open with your finger as the slightest amount of closure turns off the camera.
Opinion: This is great camera for the size and money. I also own the C-8080 and many times, I , nor can others tell which pictures came from the C-60 vs. the 8080. I usually take both cameras and shoot the same subject with both. If I can only take one camera, I usally take the C-60 because it fits in my pocket and I can be discreet. This camera is not the best camera in low light situations, but if you use the flash at close range, pictures are acceptable. Battery life can suffer if you do a lot of continuous shooting. I notice that the battery gets very hot during long photo shoots. It is a good a idea to get a second battery and keep it handly. I ordered a second OLY battery from J & R , ( $35.00) but I also found some batteries on E-bay for substantially less money ( $1.99 ea )and they worked fine. ( other posters complained about lines in the pictures when they used non-OLY batteries) I did not have this problem.
My only complaint about this camera is the slow start up time if your memory card has lots of pictures on it. There seems to be a search routine that runs to check the card when you power up. If the card is loaded with images, this start sequence takes longer than with an empty or partially loaded card. I have missed a couple of shots waiting on the the camera to start, with that in mind If I think I might want to shoot something, I leave the camera in the stand by mode with lens out and ready.
Many of my co-workers always want to hold my camera and look at it and once they take in thier hands, they always comment about how expensive it must be, because it feels so substantial, but looks so "chic" . It is built like aluminum brick. ( I have dropped it a couple of times, and no damage)
Most of the folks that have seen my camera and the photos go out an buy an Olympus camera because they have seen what mine can do. I can't speak for all Olympus cameras, but I am certainly sold on this model and the 3 others that I have. Image quality is what really counts in photography period. The only cameras I have seen with slightly better image quality IMO are some of the Sony Cybershots, which I would probably consider except I hate the memory stick. I even have friends with the Nikon D-70s and the Canon Rebel Xt and even they are amazed at the photos out of this camera.
I don't know if this camera is still in production, but if you can find one, it is a great camera.
Problems: The cover is touchy and the camera will shut down on you when you move the cover ever so slightly. Oly should have put a little more close resistance on the cover.
Opinion: I have owned this camera for a year. It has consistently given me very good images although image noise is understandably higher than in my DSLR camera which has a bigger CCD. This is only apparent in low-light photograpy.
Problems: My main peeve is that if I touch the sliding cover, the camera shuts down.
The menu system can be overwhelming when the camera is used in other modes than AUTO.
Opinion: This is one of the best digital cameras I've used, especially for such a small size. I even bought a new 8MP camera, and ended up selling it to keep this one, because the C-60 took a better picture, especially in low light.
The camera has an AUTO mode that is OK…if you have to hand the camera to someone else to take a picture of you. But the Program Auto corrects the white balance problems of the “auto” mode so well that you’ll begin to wonder why they even have “auto” as an option. It’s a disappointment to me that the newer Olympus cameras seem to be relying on the Auto, rather than the Program Auto function in their programming.
The Camera has adjustable white balance, clouds, sun, partly sunny etc. If you program the camera so that you can select that function off of the main menu in a couple of button clicks, *and use it* to adjust appropriately, the colors come out much better than many other digital cameras.
There is also a night scene mode that works very well as long as you use a tripod or set the camera on something to keep it still. I’ve even taken some pretty amazing shots in caves using nothing more than a flashlight and the cameras flash.
That makes it one of the best cameras I’ve used. The compact size and sturdy lens shield is great if you have to put the camera in a pocket or something like that.
Battery life is good, and the charger that comes with it is nice and small as well.
Problems: It uses a Li-Ion battery…why not use AA’s Olympus? NiMh AA’s can be recharged in as little as 15 minutes, and lasts just as long or longer as the dinky battery that fits in this camera.
Odd shape/size batteries are a real downfall of many digital cameras in my opinion. You can’t stop by a gas station and pick up a few in a pinch. So be sure to have a power inverter so you can charge up the battery in the car when away from home especially when on a trip.
Plus if you buy a cheap replacement battery that can’t deliver enough current, you get lines at the top of the pictures. This becomes more evident when the camera has been on for about 5 minutes or so and the battery can’t keep up.
The Olympus brand battery doesn’t have that problem, but then again it’s a $35 battery.
The panorama feature is excellent, but when you stitch them together it seriously drops the resolution of the photo, even when you pay to register the program.
Opinion: FOR Martingrumet :

Opinion: Good except for defect and warranty non-service
I bought this camera because it's light enough for travel and still has a good amount of manual control. I can echo most of what others have written. Image quality is pretty good, although there is some noise and chromatic aberration. I would be satisfied with it, if it weren't for the defect.
Problems: On some (but not all) brightly sunlit scenes with blue sky I would get horizontal lines across the top. Most are below printer resolution, but sometimes it was severe enough to be visible in 8½ X 11 inch prints. The lines are below the resolution of the LCD display, so you don't know a shot is ruined until examining file in the computer.
First trip to Olympus warranty repair they replaced the shutter. Second time they replaced the CCD. Neither solved the problem. I mailed to Olympus America and demanded my money back. They refuse. I have filed Small Claims suit and complained to New York Attorney General. I'm awaiting response.
I do not recommend this camera.
Edit to above:
Olympus has agreed to settle by sending me a different camera.
My advice to TIADO or anyone else who has this problem is to raise a fuss with Olympus if it is too late to return it under the store's return policy.
Opinion: Good camera for external photos.
Good flash.
Poor low light photos.
Some purple fringings.
Slow (when the memory is almost full the camera gets ssssllllloooowwww).
The screen gets ruined too easily.
