Opinion: I've had this camera for 4 years, and just now am I starting to look at the market to replace it. I LOVE THIS CAMERA! I've taken it around the world with me and have won several photography awards and had pictures published in travel magazines. My 1960's Nikon SLR is jealous I think...
People comment about the necessity to completely turn off the camera and close it to review pictures, but if you "double click" the quick view button (the one that turns on and off the LCD), it brings you right to the review mode. Yes, when the memory card is full it is a little slow, but you don't have to wait to close the camera then re-open it after!

Problems: On very rare occasions, pictures have red lines. Also, the sliding door is a bit annoying and can open and/or break fairly easily.
Another annoying feature is the incompatability to any xD card over 128 mb....

Opinion: after 2 years experience with the camera ...
works well in good light conditions, tends to reddish in bright light, some colours of flowers (dark red, violett, blue) are not reproduced (same is also valid for my other Olympus Z70)

Slow startup time is frustrating, especially with 500MB XD cards.

Manufacturing is rather poor.

Problems: - flash needed repair after 1.5 years
- bearing of shifting cover is broken in one place now
- closing lid for AV/USB connector came off

Opinion: Averagely, I can tell this is a good camera. Easy to carry and use, good enough for fun / amateur.

Problems: I had used it for two years, nothing really serious but the focus, even in auto mode it's just not focus. Sometimes it looks focus when reviewed, but it's blur when seeing it from the computer.

Also it's too slow when starting/opening the lens. So when reviewing the last shot, feels like forever! The worst case when taking a moving object. Cause to review after taking a picture, it needs doulbe the time, cause closing it is as slow, then view, then to open it, which is again really SLOW. If needed to take another picture, most of the times the object's gone!

Last, I found the same problem posted before. Yes, I have the similar things since last month, seems like the track door broke, camera switched off when opened. I believe the track is easily switch opened or closed before, and now, it's also easily broken

Opinion: Have used extensively under all conditions with good results

Problems: One year after purchase track door broke and camera switched off when opened. Fixed under manufacturers warranty. This involved replacing front cabinet assembly

Eight months later problem has occurred again.

This happened when I was travelling overseas losing a lot of photo opportunities.

Has any one else experienced similar problems with this camera.

Opinion: I have owned this camera now for a year and I'm still very hapy about it. The pictures it
produces are very detailed with a nice colour.
What I sometimes miss is a autofocus assist lamp (infra red). In low light conditions
autofocussing is not very easy.

I've compared some picture with my father's Canon Ixus400 and acording to me the
Olympus produces better shots.

Opinion: Autofocus mostly does no work, when there is no subject. In telephoto autofocusses better. (but there is longer shutter values, so image gets blurred from shaking). If is focussed and is not shaken in shootinng time, images are good. (Had opportunity to compare with canon A80, that can autofocus in exactly same conditions, where olympus C50Z cannot.)

Problems: problematic autofocus.

Opinion: Not THAT happy with this camera. Pricey for what you get.

Pros
-Nice solid feel
-Decent pictures (when in focus)
-Compact size for 5MP

Cons
-Constantly bumping lens cover a bit which turns off camera
-Slow start up time..SLOW
-Half my pictures come out blurry because they are not focused. They look focused in LCD but when you see them on your computer they are not
-Cannot focus in low light
-Exposures are all over the place

I think I will upgrade to the C-5060

Opinion: it's an very good camera, i triyed every kind of picture with it, and i have only two things to dislike at this olympus (i have also a 750 ultrazoom) a little macro deficiency and some blur at certains lights. And for those who used this camera and don't like that you have to close the lens cover to preview pictures ***hint*** double-push view button near the display with te lens open :), maybe they'll have a surprise.

Opinion: I have my camera for 1 year and I have no big problems. Pictures are excelent at the daylight. Sometimes my pictures are not focused. Also red eyes, only in the room with "yellow" light. But I recommend. Look at my pictures I´ve made with my camera.
