This camera takes really shar pictures, is easy to use, and, with its small construction really nice to hold. Problems: This is a problem that makes me pretty mad, after al this was a camera i got for my fifteenth birthday, i had choosen it myself: It cant take pictures of sun shining upon anything, it will look like it´s cloudy outside, and i´ve tryed everything to fix it, but it just wont work. If someone knows how to fix it, plz E-mail me at: kemikaliemannen@hotmail.com

Taked about 2000 shots with this and.. its good. Not great, but good. My previous (and i still have it) camera was 2100UZi. Compared to that i miss EVF and easy-to-use.. more buttons -> not have to go to menus so often. Image quality its good, but i still think 2100 has better. Maybe because it have IS, but anyway. IQ should be much better, or at least i tought it was.. no, its not bad. EVF its great that i've miss it already MUCH! When i can see thru EVF all settings like aperture, shutter ...

This camera has been a pleasent surprise to me. It is loaded with features and the image quality is excellent. I've done blow ups to 11x14 using the camera's highest quality setting and they have been wonderful. The camera is a bit small for what I'm use to (I've always had a big chunky 35mm SLR), so this is taking a bit of adjustment. To counteract, I've attached a standard pistol grip L-bracket to the camera and fastened the remote control to the handle with some velcro. This has made ...

This is my first digital camara and previous I was just using a very simple fully automatic camara. To me it is too complicated and I don't think it is a good choice for beginner user even though the image quality is good. Problems: With automatic mode: Image too bright at night. Inconsistent lighting with different lighting background. Not intelligent enough to take photo with automatic mode.

I've had this camera for about a month now and am very happy with it. One of the better, if I dare say best, of the 4MP models to date. The construction is all around very good. Camera fits nicely in your hand. Would have been a perfect 5 if not for the dumb lens cap. What was Olympus thinking? One slip when putting on the cap and your fingers go on the lens quite easily. (thankfully hasn't happened to me!) Features are excellent with program mode for beginners and basic shooting and ...

I started with Olympus 2020 and when it "started dying" I did extensive research on all the new models. I compared All the latest and greatest. 4040 was my final choice and I'm very happy with it. I have it for few months now and I did not encounter any problems. The size and weight is perfect. Everything is easily accessible. I love the new menu - is divided so it is easier and faster to go to the options I need to. Custom reset option is great-the camera turn itself on with my settings. I ...

I have used an Olympus 220L, 320L, 2000, 3030, and now the 4040 and it far outpaces anything I have used so far in the Olympus line. The 3030 was good but I feel this camera is much improved. Lens cap falloff has been eliminated and will also clip into the CLA-1 lens adapter!! With the new "faster" f 1.8 lens, low lighting and flash situations are more easily handled. I believe the lens is actually sharper than the 3030, especially in the Macro mode. Problems: Lag time between when you ...

I originally bought the Coolpix 5000 but replace it with the C4040 as I was not happy with the noise introduced with ISO > 100. The C4040 build quality and f1.8 lens is a definite positive. I prefer the NiMh AA batteries as the battery life is excellent (2-3hrs1.8Ah) and incredibly inexpensive. I would have preferred Compact Flash, as the read/write is noticeably slower with SM. Picture quality is great, but I stick to 1024 x 768 so sometimes I wonder why I buy 4mps. I find the 15s movie ...

CRITICAL ADVICE This camera requires a little time to master but is surely rewarding when you do. Pro level MACROS - Try this: Cam on tripod, 8"+ from subject > W zoom > Compose on monitor > Aperture mode > select F8 or smaller > SHQ mode > iso100 > AF=SPOT in macro mode > Flash OFF > Use AEL on highlight .> Expose. I wish to acknowledge and thank Don for the following, which he published here some time ago: "To get the sharpest images, set AF=SPOT and set ALL RESET=OFF. I have the Oly 2000 ...
