Olympus C-4040 Zoom

Most compact digital cameras are now shaped like a bar of soap and you can only use the LCD to view your subject. I was able to get mine in mint condition on Ebay for $56.00 with it's original box a few memory cards. I agree that Smartmedia cards can be expensive but if you can get them cheap if you can get them at auction prices on Ebay. This was the first digital camera I ever bought, and I still use it a lot. The reason: the lens! You just can't get an f/1.8 lens on a digital camera. This more than makes up for the lower 4 megapixel sensor. The color, image contrast, and subtlety are vastly better than most other cameras. Ha !! This has Got to be a laugh to some, the last post for this camera was over 2 years ago, but I REALLY think this is a Great camera. I have had it for years now. 1. precise white balance. 2. nice pictures quality 3. long life battery (use AA-battery) 4. light weight. Problems: 1. use sm card and saving a bit slow.

Easy to use camera. Problems: Picture quality was good initially. Now pictures have a magenta tint to them, especially on skin tones.

VERY-VERY LOW NOISE, SUPERB LOW-LIGHT BEHAVIOR (BETTER THAN OLYMPUS), GREAT FLASH. I AM A HAPPY OWNER AND DAILY USER. BUT I STIL LOVE MY OLD C-4040 !

Excellent camera! Having used it for one year. Mainly using camera for scientific investigations: in microphotography (making pictures of micro objects through microscope and optical adapter) and for measuring the deformation of various strained girders by myself developed method.
