Opinion: I bought this camera when it first came out and loved it then, but things move on and I upgraded regularly over the years so eventually 2.1 megapixels seemed insubstantial and I gave the camera to a friend who was studying photography. Now in 2010, even though I have a number of great cameras ( my main D-SLR is a Canon 7D ) I always missed my UZI and just this week I managed to find a mint condition model on ebay which I now have in my posession, I will not be giving it away or selling it again. This camera truly is set to become one of the classics of the digital age and I have absolutely no concern over it's 2.1 sensor. The UZI has acquired something of a cult following among photographers over the years and I'm very happy to add myself to the long and growing list of admirers of this fantastic camera.

Problems: None when I had it before and none so far with the new ebay model which looks and feels like it has just come out the box.

Opinion: This is one of my favorite cameras of all time. It is 2009 and 2.1 MegaPixels doesn't bother me one bit! Just bought a used but MINT one yesterday for 75 US Dollars - also came with a 128mb smartmedia card. Can't wait to shoot with it again. Had a new one back in 2001/2002 and missed it. That big rubber grip feels so good! This camera was cutting edge when it was out, and its quality still shines today.

Opinion: My Olympus C 2100 just arrived from an Ebay seller who sold it to me for only $135 in mint condition with five 64mb Smartmedia cards and a UV filter, nowadays it may seem like a lot of money for a 2MP camera even with it's 10X zoom and obsolete memory system but I love it's still futuristic design and it's "ahead of it's time" technology like an electronic viewfinder and image stablization, things we take for granted today in digital cameras. Would love to hear from other owners who bought the cam after 2005 and if they still love it. I'm sure it was worth it's $1000 price tag back in 2000. Will be a nice back up to my new Pentax k200d DSLR

Barry

Problems: None so far

Opinion: extraordinary
it s my first digital camera and really the best
it s out to date now but it image quality is quite better than any bridge camera you can find now ( panasonic and fuji included !)
really incredible
you must buy a good reflex camera + good lenses ( expensives near 1000 1500 dollars ) to be better !!

Opinion: My first digital camera and still in use today. I now take it mostly on holidays and it never ceases to amaze me with the quality of images it produces. A real gem!!!

Problems: Use good high powered rechargeable batteries and carry spares

Opinion: I LOVED THIS CAMERA!!!

Our family has had this camera since it was released, paid $1350 for it back in the day, and it was worth every penny. Great colours, fast burst mode, 10X optical zoom - for those photographers who didn't have the cash for DSLR back in the day it was great.

It's outdated now, but still remains my favourite Olympus to date!

Problems: NONE!

Opinion: Bought my first Olympus C2100UZ new several years ago. Was very pleased indeed with it. The resolution was excellent, and if I used the zoom carefully following the old Leica adage - ('fill the negative so that there will be no need to crop') it did everything I could possibly want. If you Google Pbase I got it2 you should find a picture taken with it.

About a year ago, I got camera fever & traded the Olympus in for a Canon S1IS. (The store owner said that within a week, somebody came in, saw the Olympus, and said "Oh! You've got one of THOSE!" and bought it immediately.)

I Was quite pleased with the Canon, but about a year ago again got camera fever and gave the Canon to our son.

Shortly after, I saw another C2100 UZ for sale & bought it, thinking it would serve as a stop-gap. Now I'm more attached to this Olympus than ever.

Problems: The camera uses Smart Media cards. Retailers no longer sell them, but eBay is still a good place to find them.

Opinion: I've used the 2100 for 12 months now, maybe 1000 photo's in that time, and have developed a real affection for it.

Beautifully balanced, easy to hold and operate, tactile controls, super-smooth zoom mechanics and an incredible continuous shooting mode (thus UZI?) that's barely matched by even the most sophisticated of today's prosumer cameras. Fast, pin-sharp, rarely fooled autofocus; neutral saturation (cf Fujifilm); no shutter lag to speak of; sound AF assist lamp; powerful flash; very, very effective image stabilisation; first rate macro mode (zoom allowed)...anyway, these are the things I liked.

I've owned nine digital camera's in my time - Olypmus, Sony, Canon - some older than the 2100, some more up to date. I don't judge the 2100 as a camera of it's time - it's an alltime classic, with features and performance that still meet and exceed, in many respects, today's digi-cam benchmarks. My 2100 is a keeper until it dies.

Problems: The C2100 doesn't like batteries that are low on power - despite showing them as well-charged it'll struggle to autofocus, and as a result it will misfocus, which gave me the impression that far more serious lens or lens stabilisation problems were occurring.

Movie mode, while visually good (320x240 @ 15 fps) is no use with internal microphone because it mostly captures the camera stabiliser noises.
