If you can get a 490, do that instead. I had my 490 stolen and my company replaced it was a 510. Focus is slower Zoom has less steps and its slower Uses more battery power Focus is not as accurate LCD doesn't white-balance prior to the shot (halogen lights make the LCD reddish). I don't like the auto-pop flash. The 490 was nice for me, since I don't need the flash most of the time. No information LCD on top of the camera. I'm 6'2" and the "grip" is not good for my hand size. It's a good digital camera, the colors are very real and it is also a fast one. Problems: The camera drains the batery most digital camera's have this problem but it is rather difficult when using it. I connected the camera to my TV (with brand new bateries) and the bateries were dead after 9 min
