I just updated to version 3 of the A7Rii firmware (from v2) and took a couple of pictures. I uploaded to Lightroom and discovered the filename has changed from DSCnnnnn.RAW to _DSCnnnn.RAW. I don't believe I changed anything else that might have resulted in this difference, and I can't find anything in the menus that might fix it. I googled for this issue and searched the forums without getting a hit so it's either just me or no-one else is bothered by it. Has anyone else noticed this? Is...

Sounds like the Nikon 1 does very very good job autofocusing moving targets such as little kids, moving animals, airplanes flying, etc.. How well does Nikon 1 system ( in particular J5 and V3 ) perform when you're the one who is moving fast. Such as taking photos as a passenger on a fast moving car, taxi cab, motorcycle, bus or train, or even on a airplane jet flying. ( please don't take photos while driving a car or piloting an airplane )

With those tiny little female contacts in the V3 Hot Shoe, I hate to leave the EVF out of the socket.  I don't recall getting a cover for the hot shoe when I got mine.  Is there an aftermarket V3 Hot Shoe Cover? I ask for forgiveness in advance if this is a topic already beaten to death in this forum.... I'm primarily an FX and CX user, and rarely visit this Forum. A recent post on the Nikon Rumors website reports a lens patent for a mirrorless APS-C format - and it occurs to me that a good platform for Nikon's first implementation of mirrorless in an SLR-class body (i.e., DX and FX) might be the DX format.  Nikon seems to be fairly conservative in terms of design, and would likely not be willing to...

Can the electronic shutter be activated without a lens on the body? I mean when set in full manual mode. I can do this with a d70s, for example. --'I don't take photographs, I steal them.'Tungsten Nordstein, 1999

Have long coveted a Nikon 1 V system, but prefer to shoot in 4:3 aspect ratio and have waited through V1, V2, and V3 for a framing option other than 3:2. Having given up waiting, it occurred to me that I can put clear plastic adhesive-less cover (like a color-form) on the EVF and with a fine point Sharpie draw vertical lines to mask out the 4:3 dimensions. Has anyone tried anything like this? If so, what material is recommended? Other options? Thanks in advance.

I know that my A7R has no Optical Low-Pass Filter on the sensor, but does the same configuration apply to the mk2?  I was getting ready to sell the A7R (even creating the ad) and in attempting to copy the features into the ad, noticed the Low-Pass absence and came to a stop!  I would assume that the same feature existed on both the Mk1 and the Mk2, but I can't find any mention of it in the Mk2 descriptions (which could also be true if it was not changed). Does anyone know for sure? --TomNikon...

I have never used the "Sensor Stick" but would like to know if it is any more 'risky' on the moveable sensor (as part of the IBS system) than the more common cleaning resources (thinking wet cleaning).  Has anyone tried the Sensor Stick on any of the IBS sensors?  If so, what was the result?  If not, what have you used (if anything yet)? --TomNikon D750, Nikon 1 V3, J5Sony a6000, a5100, a7R, a7RiiOly E-P2IR, A01 Airand Lots-O-Lenses

The tripod mounting plate on the Nikon VR 1 80-200 f2.8 lens seems smaller in size then the tripod mount plate which comes on the latest model VR ll 80-200 f2.8 lens. Does anyone here know if these parts are interchangeable? In other words can the older smaller, more compact plate design fit on the newer model lens. Thanks. Having shot with the FT1 adapter Nikon 1 V3 and VR 1 lens, it was a more compact fit on my small monopod, than what I have seen in photos of the larger tripod/monopod...
