Hi everybody! I just got a new Nikon 1 J3 and i do not have to much knowledge regarding this field(photography). My question is very simple. Which is the best lens to use for family event and traveling?  I just want to have clear pictures and i like blurry effect in background . I think the best choice for me is 18.5mm. What you guys think?

First time posting on this forum and couldn't find a post on this subject. I just got the J3 and everything seems to work great with both the kit 10-30mm and the 18.5 lens without flash but I seem to have difficulties getting the proper exposure when I turn on the flash in these modes. All of my pictures seems very dim and can't seem to get the exposure correct. I tried using the night portrait mode and the pictures turn out a bit brighter but the processing time is too long. I would expect...

I'm trying to find a camera (preferably a not too bulky dslr) that is reasonably fast with good photo and video quality including in low light/dusk. By fast I mean including the time it takes to focus (in order to catch a fleeting moment for example). In many reviews in general it's not clear what is meant by the camera being fast. What should I look for to determine whether the fastness of the camera serves my purpose. For example, I tried both Nikon1 J3 and Sony NEx 5r - all reviews...

Am disappointed by J3 behaviour with the WU-1B. I want to shoot using the camera just like normal, and have the photos (jpg) automatically arrive on my iDevices (and or Android devices). Do the Eye-Fi cards support this on a J3/V2? The WU-1B does not. The WU-1B only allows me to do two things: - use my iDevice as a remote with Live View and initiate photos from the iDevice; - use my iDevice to download images already present on the J3. I want to be able to shoot initiated by the camera just...

Do you have any experience, or do you have recommendation which quadrocopter or quadcopter can carry a Nikon J3 (244g) with 10mm lens (77g)? The total weight including battery and lens is less than 330g. The J1 (277g) + 10mm would be around 360g. S1 (240) + 10mm is the same as J3 + 10mm. V1 (383g) + 10mm would be 460g, which might be too heavy. Thank You, Miki PS: Starting at 4:00 in the vimeo video (How of Why) of http://www.nikonusa.com/cinema/index.html#Why gave me the idea, that a Nikon 1...

I have to make the tough decision between purchasing either the J3 or V1 and i need some real advice, i'm already too confused from reading all the reviews and articles, just some real advice would be great! Also, do the 14 megapixels on the J3 make image quality in photos significantly better than the V1's 10 megapixels? Any other advantages or disadvantages one has over the other?

Page 121 (Continuous Shooting - The Memory Buffer) of the Nikon 1 V1 manual says "Up to 100 photographs can be taken in succession; note, however, that frame rate will drop when the buffer is full." I expected that this buffer is used in "Electronic (Hi)" shutter type (high-speed burst shooting). With 10fps I was able to record 34 images (image quality and size making no difference) and only 30 image with 30fps or 60fps. That is with 10fps I am able to take only a 3 second burst shot. I have...

Hello experienced photographers! I have a problem to decide which camera choose. I have compared photos from both of them at http://www.imaging-resource.com/IMCOMP/COMPS01.HTM but I can't see much difference in both of them. I am aware that J3 has biggest sensor size so image quality should be better, but really I cannot see that difference in quality. I have to add here that I will not buying any additional lenses to J3. I will use only kit. Which camera will give better image quality. Will...

I am about to my 1st mirrorless camera, and after several days of evaluation for my needs Nikon 1 system seems to be the most appropriate. I think J3 would be the best choice for me. Am I right when I say that the V2 hasn't more features than J3 other than the (built-in) electronic viewfinder (EVF)?

Hi, I'm considering upgrading from an old, crappy point-and-shoot to a Nikon 1 J2 (due to reviews of the system and an awesome sale price on the J2).  Currently I use an Eye-Fi and love it, but our camera is not "Eye-Fi Connected", which basically means when we're in range of our home Wifi, pictures will transfer wirelessly in the background, unbeknownst to the camera.  The result is a little awkward and clunky; we usually just leave the camera on all night until the batteries die and let it...
