Much of the discussion has been that the J5 sensor has better high iso performance than its predecessors.  What about low iso, say up to 800? If one is using the same lens,  will the J5 give any improvement over a J4, J3 or J2?

Hi Has anyone disassembled a J3? Ultimately, I would like to access the shutter button, so I can bring 3 wires out for a cabled remote shutter release. Yes, I know the J3 can be remote controlled with a WiFi adapter. No, I cannot use 2.4 GHz at all with the J3, as it will interfere and de-sense another nearby 2.4 G device. Yes, I'm familiar with working with SMD. Yes, I know the V3 can use the ML-L3 IR remote.  The V3 is heavier, and I have a strict weight limit for the...

Currently I have the Olympus XZ-1 which I find very slow in focus tracking. Nights of research have pointed me to the Nikon 1 when it comes to focus tracking speed. Despite the smaller sensor size compared to the m43 or APS-C, seems like its still the king of focus tracking, is that true? So I will be mainly taking pictures of my son who is now 15 months old, he is very active. Occasional nice portrait will be nice as well. I found the J2 for around 300USD, and J3 and S2 goes for 450USD. Is...

Hi, everybody! After my J1 died and local Nikon service centre asked for CAD135 to fix it, I picked up on e-bay Japanese J3 for $150 (seems a better deal :)). However, it comes only with English and Japanese languages, and the firmware is at 1.00.  I want to flash it to latest and greatest (too many nice additions - i.e. the focus tracking with FT-1). The question is is it safe to flash it with Canadian (or US) firmware to get access to more languages? Quick googling didn't turn up a definite...

I just got  one of these and I was look in for a recommendation on a case for the camera, a card or two, and an extra batt.  Also, anyone have experience with the Wasabi batteries in this device?  Same as J3, and they work great in that, just curious. Thanks

I take a lot of sideline sports photos, and recently got the J3 (bundled with the 10-100). When I took it out with the 30-110 yesterday, the shots did not seem as sharp as the ones I was getting from the older J1. Is this normal, or is there some way to set up the J3 for better sports shooting? These were shot S priority (400) continuous AF, just the same way I set up the J1. --Rube

First time posting on this forum and couldn't find a post on this subject. I just got the J3 and everything seems to work great with both the kit 10-30mm and the 18.5 lens without flash but I seem to have difficulties getting the proper exposure when I turn on the flash in these modes. All of my pictures seems very dim and can't seem to get the exposure correct. I tried using the night portrait mode and the pictures turn out a bit brighter but the processing time is too long. I would expect...
