There are some prices on the S1 (new) and J1 (refurb) that are tempting. Sorry if this had been asked before, but I haven't found a direct reference whether the S1 or J1 does or does not have a built-in intervalometer. For what I do, that feature is very valuable. I have come across posts that mention certain features were or were not discontinued from the original models. I think the V1 may have had a built-in intervalometer. I wasn't able to find this info in the S1 user-manual ... at...

The Nikon 1 system is not the largest in the world, so this is not a very large problem. At present, I have a J1 and five lenses, about 8 filters, battery charger, spare battery, flash card reader, spare flash card, lens pen, remote.  I'm outgrowing the little Nikon bag that is intended for one camera body and up to three lenses. What I would like is a modest amount of storage space that will hold all my gear, plus maybe a bit of extra space for a V2 body when I finally upgrade.  I'll keep...

So I live in Alabama surrounded by trees and on a lake. I would love to be able to take some pictures of animals, or lake or sunset or whatever might come up mainly will be nature photography with maybe some sports or people but mainly outdoors stuff. I have never really owned a DSLR or a high end camera so to speak although I have had a few Cameras and my mom has a D90 which I have used a few times but I don't have very much experience with high end cameras. Anyway I was looking at picking...

Anyone used this combo?. The overall quality and small size of the basic kit really appeals, as I do a lot of hiking. I guess I'm after a small versatile system with the option of a birding/ wild life lens. The price here is about  NZ $1000 vs about $1500 for the GX7. Have also considered 2nd hand nikon v1 or j1's.     Thanks, John

I was wondering how does the J1 with the 10-30 kit lens fare with macro shot. I like to do macros on insects and flowers. what is the min distance from subject? Also is this J1 and the lenses reliable? I see a lot of threads about lenses not working. thanks

Hi guys! This is my first post here, but I will definitely come back to reply and such if someone answers back on this thread. This post is actually a copy-paste from a post I just wrote on the Nikon 1 Flickr group, but nobody really replies back there in a timely manner these days and was probably not a good place to ask. So I just bought a lot of two Nikon J1 bodies off of eBay that just came in today. They were both listed as powers-on, as-is, non-functioning, non-tested, no-returns and I...

I have a Nikon J1, and also acquired a working, like new, Canon 50mm 1:1.8 FD lens very cheaply. I purchased the Canon FD adapter to try to see if it would work.  Everything mounted together smoothly, but I am seeing a message that says:  Check lens.  Pictures can only be taken when a lens is attached.   My question:  is this going to work or not?  Is there a setting on the J1 that will allow the lens to perform?  I don't want to ruin the camera.  I intend to buy the F.1 lens made for the N1...

I'm something of a hobbyist shooter, currently own a Nikon J1 and Sony NEX-F3, I've also used DSLRs (most recently the Nikon D5100).  I've developed a gallery of photos over the years, and currently have 2 PBase galleries. I like them in terms of how they work (ability to customize the look of each page, "nested" subgalleries, can upload multiple JPEGs at once as a .zip file), but I am wondering if I should also be hosting photos elsewhere if I'm seeking more "visibility" as it were, as they...
