Can you set back button focus in the manual mode using AF-C on a D7100? I was able to set it in Aperture priority mode, but I can't seem to be able to set it in M mode. If it can be done, how do you do it and how can you save it as either U1 or U2? Thanks in advance.

Hello ladies and gentlemen, My father who shoots with a D300 asked me some questions regarding the banding subject on the D7100 and the new camera that just came out. I told him I really don't know much about it, I've only seen and read what some have shown about these cameras having banding in certain situations. Basically, what is it that has changed since the D7000? Why banding all of the sudden? Well, I know the D7100 was the first with the Toshiba sensor. But the D7200 also has banding,...

When I use the Large option I get the standard 6000x4000 full resolution of the camera. So what happens when I select Medium (4496x3000) or Small (2992x2000)? Some sort of reduction has to occur. Does the the sensor do something? Does onboard processing do something like re-sampling and averaging some number pixels into one? Does the sensor not use all its pixels? Can someone explain the what the camera does to produce a lower res output? And does this increase quality of those pixels in...

The published physical dimensions of the D7200 are identical to the D7100.  Does anyone know if the bodies are exactly the same?  I'd like to order a Really Right Stuff L bracket.  I called the company and they said they are still waiting on their D7200 so it'll be a least a couple of weeks before they know for sure.  They said I could order the D7100 bracket and return it if it doesn't fit but I thought I'd check here first to see if anyone had tried it out. ---Jeff

Hi, I am new here, and have not been doing photography long. I have been learning photography for the past three years, with the Nikon D5100, and am finding that the lack of weather resistance and single SD card slot are becoming problems, amongst other issues when taking pictures, such as the need to use the same wheel for aperture and shutter speed. Would the Nikon D7100 be a good upgrade. I already have many lenses in DX, so do not see it economical to go to full frame, as nice as this...

Hi, I currently own a Nikon D50 and a Nikon D70. (No I didn't steal them from a museum!). I also only have kit lenses. AF-S Nikkor 18-70mm 1.3.4-4.5G ED and AF Nikkor 70-300mm 1:4-5.6G. I am about to buy myself a D7100 but I don't know what lens to buy with it. I have seen in some forums that people have had poor results on the D7100 with 18-55 and 18-70 kit lenses and it would be a real shame to buy a new body and get poor results because of my existing kit lenses! I want to get a bit more...

Hello All, I have a chance to buy a used D600 (7k shots) with a recent shutter upgrade replacement for about $200 more than a new 7100.  I'm coming from a now un-used for the past 1 yr D80 with a 18-200 vr DX and an older 50mm F1.4D.  I will do some video and mostly stills.  My baby is now 4 months old and I feel like a smuck taking iphone 6 shots of her (although they have been very nice shots:) .  Thoughts? Thanks!

I'm the d7100 owner by today. I look to the camera and I don't know how can I change the AF type, cental point, multiple point, tracking and so. I have a d300 from about 8 years and was not a problem to change the AF type by a little lever brom the back of the camera, but d7100 have not one like this. I read carrefuly all the menues, but I don't see anythings for AF type to change.
