Hi, I wanted to look at a D7100 nef file from the sample images.  When I look at the .nef file it says the image size is 1620x1080.  Why is the RAW file from a D7100 only 1620x1080?  And if it is only 1620x1080, why is it 35 MB?  Thanks.

Hi all, I need a new monitor for my computer - its super old & I am unable to edit on it. Ive been told to look for these things when buying a monitor: "There are a few basics to consider to start with…Go for a monitor with LED backlight and hi resolution - something like 1920 x 1200 for a 24 inch monitor.LED back lighting is more controllable than the traditional fluorescent tube that monitors used to have. Also look for the highest percentage of Adobe RGB coverage that you can get/afford....

I'm thinking to upgrade to FX camera, like D800/800E, D750, Df or 610. Will I see drastic improvement in IQ. I mostly shoot landscape, architecture scenery and rarely print. I don't sell many photos. Just shoot as an advanced hobbyist for my own enjoyment. Want buy used/refurbished camera from reputable re seller. I want to get 28-300 to got with it, because I don't enjoy carrying heavy bag anymore. Any input? Thank you in advance. PS. Was D800 one of the cameras that had sensor dust / oil...

Hi. I have a Nikon D3100. I've had it for 4 years now, and now that I've grown as photographer, I'd like to upgrade my gear. Thinking of the d600 or d7100 (leaning heavily towards d7100 bc of budget constraints). Do you think I'd see a noticeable difference in image quality between the D3100 and D7100? If so, please elaborate in what way. Thanks so much for the help! --Gear: Nikon D3100. 18-55mm Nikkor lens. 55-200mm Nikkor lens. Rokinon 8mm fisheye lens.

I’m looking at a purchasing a wide angle lens for milky way shots and general astrophotography and some time lapse work if possible. I have done a bit of research on the tokina 11-16 and the sigma 10-20mm line of lenses that fall well within my price point. I’m still unsure about which would yield better results or if there are other lenses available that would work in this situation. I don’t mind going for a prime lens but I am looking for super wide angle, max 20mm but would rather go...

Looking to buy a D7100 for landscape and astrophotography but am also looking for a solid all round lense that will give me complete range and good quality. Was looking at the Tamron 16-300mm lense for around. Is there any lense or combination of eg 18-50 and 70-300 that i could get for the same price that would yield better results? Ill also be looking at a 10-20 or 11-16 for the specific task of landscape and astrophotography but ill post that in the astrophotography forum. Cheers for any...

I was testing out a mint-shape, used Nikon 14-24mm f2.8 lens this week but didn't buy it because I couldn't get the left side outer focus points to be sharp using auto-focus. My conundrum was that I could not tell whether there was something wrong with the lens or whether my D7100 body does not produce sharp focus at the outer focus points, especially the left ones. (Nether were the right outer points as crisp as the center). The lens was $1400 used so I figured I better pass on that purchase...

I know...I know...as silly as the title, comparing some $1210 (with lens kit) DX camera against some $1775 body only FX camera. But that is what I have been puzzled for the last 30 days of my shooting experience. Been using D7100 for about six months, been happy with it eversince. When I heard that Nikon launch a new D750, I sold my trustee D7100 and upgrade to D750. I was happy with my decission, since D750 delivers superb pic quality in dim light far better than D7100, also deeper color...

Just received my D7100 and am wondering what lens will really show off this sensor? I have the Nikon 16-85 VR from my Nikon D90 and it is a pretty decent lens especially at the wide end but nothing special after about 45mm and up. Did a little research and thought a nice prime would really do the trick so bought a Nikon 40mm 2.8 micro since I read so many great comments on how sharp this thing is supposed to be and it is supposed to be sharper than the 35 f/1.8 with less CA.  Did some testing...
