I recently bought a Sigma 17-70mm f/2.8-4.5 DC lens off ebay for $150. I was told it is not the newer version that has the HSM OS. Feature. Im guessing that is the newer model of the one that I bid on and won. My question is will this lens work on my Nikon D7100 with autofocus and mount correctly. Also, What does the ā€œCā€ mean on Sigma lenses?? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,

Hello all! I'm new to these forums but not all that new to photography - about 10 years, but only really serious over the last 5 or so (since the release of the d7000).Over this time I have improved a lot and I'm looking to purchase another camera body to compliment/replace the d7000. Although I photograph a wide variety of subject matter, I tend to focus quite a lot on portraits and weddings. This brings me to a question that I know has been asked a lot - should I upgrade to the d7100 or the...

I've had my D7100 for just over a year and just started having this issue The camera will appear to be working fine - shutter clicking away - no error messages or anything - but there are no images saved on the sd card. The first time it happened I had 2 cards in - the first card had 8 images left before it would switch to card 2 - every time I took a photo - the number would stay at 8 and there was nothing new saved.  The card does not appear to be corrupt because there are a few hundred...

Hi All, I wanted to double-check with other d7100 users to see if this is a common problem or if I just need to get my camera repair center to send the camera to Nikon for warranty replacement. The problem is that within 10 pictures or so after a proper cleaning (done by the certified nikon repair center), the sensor gets full of dust again. I have been fighting with this since I first got this camera. I'm not convinced that it's a simple thing you have to live with anymore after I had to use...

Hi, I've been asked to film a short documentary of a painter that can be shown in exhibitions. I think my D7100 will produce good enough video for that but think it will need better sound than the internal mike can provide. Can anyone suggest an external mike that I can attach to the camera that will produce digital broadcast sound or should I really be considering a separate sound recorder. I already have a Yeti that's supposed to good but would prefer a mike that I can attach to the...

Hi, I am wanting to buy a macro lens to be able to further explore my passion for photographing closeups of both flowers and insects/bees/spiders/small stuff. I have been thinking about the Sigma 105 OS HSM, or the Tamron 90 VC USD for budgetary reasons, and as far as I can see there is no difference in performance between these two, so I guess I will go for the cheapest one (Sigma). My real question is however if the 105/90mm is "enough" or "too much"? I want to get real close to the...

I have a NIKON D7100 and normally use a selection of primes plus my 70-300mm VR.  I have been asked to take photos at a charity tennis event tomorrow so thought this would be the right time to hire the 700-200mm f4 which I have heard so many good things about. Well, it arrived and I am not impressed by the test shots I have taken so far which don't appear to be as sharp as I expected. I don't have time or equipment to fine tune this lens so does anyone have any suggestions what I can do...

Hi, I'm a long time reader but this is my first post.  Don't know why it took so long, probably because I still consider myself a student of photography. I've been in the Nikon camp for about 6 years, first with the D90, then D7100, and just today my first FX, the D750.  I have a few lenses, the f1.8 primes 28mm, 50mm, 85mm, and the f4 zooms 16-35mm, 24-120mm. Also, a monopod & ext mic. Why I need advice is because I NEVER have used my Nikon's for video.  I have read so many good things about...

When using my Nikon 70-200 f4, carry it attached to the D7100, lens collar attached, with the lens hood in the ready position; camera on top, so that I can quickly reach into my sling bag & start shooting.  (Birds & other animals don't like waiting for photographers to setup.) Long telephoto lens, such as the Sigma 150-600 C & Tamron 150-600 are the lightweights in this category, but still heavy. Is it safe to have the weight of the lens + camera, stacked on the lens hood, so that all of the...

I'm trying to figure out if my gear allows me to use the Power Control Function of my L478DR light meter.  My flash is a Nikon SB700, my radio triggers are Pocket Wizard Plus III and my camera is a Nikon D7100.  Any help would be greatly appreciated. --http://edcrawford.smugmug.com/
