Opinion: What was Nikon thinking? This camera simply does not offer enough of an incentive for owners to upgrade to the 's'. So who would want this camera? Surely not current D70 owners. Surely not buget conscious consumers as the D50 offers 98% of what this camera offers for a marginal savings. Surely not existing Canon-based users as the 350D/XT costs less and offers more on paper than either of Nikon's new offerings. Therefore this camera cannot score very highly for 'value'.
Given its plastic exterior and PLASTIC frame, better not drop it.
Opinion: OMG, is Nikon´s president a Canon troll?
Opinion: No major update indeed but for new buyers still a great camera with great features and image quality.
Since the D70s is exact the same camera as the D70 (except the minor updates) it still shares the same picture quality and ease of use. Since technology evolves in 6 months from now all topics will be around the D70s. $899 msrp for the body only will not be the cheapest price available as there will be stores selling the D70s for much less. Ritzcamera.com sells the D70 and D70s (pre order) body only for the exact same price. B&H sells it for $70 cheaper. There are other stores that sell the D70 body only even for much less but so will other stores with the D70s. Nothing to get depressed about. The D70 has been raved as being an excellent camera worldwide. Same will happen with the D70s. Not upgrading the D70s with more upgrades as people were hoping for (considering the competition) I agree is not a bonus for Nikon but the bottom line is that the Nikon D70s will continue to be an excellent camera until the next generation Nikon Dslr's and then people will focus on those. Even if having to pay $100 more for the exact same camera doesn't change the quality of it at all but instead people should then focus more and debate on Nikon's marketing policy and price strategy. And no, I don't work for Nikon at all.
Opinion: max64 must be working for nikon ..... i can beleive what he said ..i don't see why someone can be happy to paid 200$ for the exact samething as before...
Problems: there's even no b&w feature yet
