The D300s is a wonderful camera which takes great pictures and is progressively becoming easier to use. I still have a lot to learn. While the body with lens is heavy, I find it steadier handheld than a lighter camera. I have the brand-new Nikkor 18-200mm VRII telephoto zoom lens which produces exceptionally clear images even in JPEG format. I sold my D300 for a brand new D300s and I must say that the upgrade from the D300 is minimal. I don't understand why the videoclip feature is limited to 5 min. at 720p. Canon introduced the 7D with a new 18 megapixel sensor and I believe that Canon takes the crown of better APS-C SRL camera. Nikon made a big mistake not to change the outdated (three years old) 12 mpx sensor. In the same market segment Pentax and Sony too have "numerically" bigger and advanced sensors.
