Good morning, I have recently acquired a Nikon D1X. Currently I can get the lens to focus in AF mode, however once locked the shutter will not release and take the photo. I have tried it with and without the lens attached. I have been into the menu and checked the lock up mirror function to see if that was the issues, however that seems to be okay as it releases. I also have a D1 and that seems to be working fine. I would love to get the DX1 back up and running sometime. I have searched a few...

Hi all, I was using my Profoto studio the other week and was hoping to use my X-E1 to shoot some portraits, but when I threw the 'Air' trigger on my hot shoe, I didn't get any response from the lights. Does anyone know how to sync a Fuji X-series camera to studio lighting? Is there something in the menu I need to turn on? Thank you.

I started with Nikon and their D1 back in 2000 and then migrated to Canon.  I am considering moving back to Nikon mostly for a feature I think is unique to Nikons? It might be called time lapse but I have see occasionally surfing or motocross action photos where the camera body was locked down on a tripod and the single still image shows the same landscape but maybe the action component 5-8 times in the photo.  Sort of like an HDR process but not adjusting the color or saturation but...

Hey everyone,  I know this guys an old camera, but I love him dearly and was hoping for a bit of support regarding an issue I have been having recently. It seems that when I turn the camera on, the sensor isn't working quite right, resulting in images like this: However, if I then take a 30 second exposure, it results in this: Now for the weird part. The next exposure following the 30 second shot is perfectly fine!: Then, after about thirty shots, the image becomes this: Then finally...

After days of indecision I've decided I'll be buying the Nikon D5100. Now my only issue is what lens/lenses to go for. I think it will be best to give you an idea of what types of photographs I intend to take and information about the type of environment and space I'll be working in as well as the type of video footage I intend to shoot. I'll throw in a few example photos to show you what my expectations are in regards to the full potential of the camera and lens/lenses. Photographs I'm going...

Hi guys I am a complete newbie in studio lighting and as a full time dental student, all I have is a really large living room with high ceiling for location and a canon 6D +24-105L.  While I don't have the money for Profoto D1, I do have about $400-500 saved. I am thinking of starting out with a a single strobe and a reflector. I don't think I can combat the sun yet so I will stick with my apt living room. I am thinking about AlienBee B800 but as a newbie I don't know if that is enough. Also...

I'm looking for some advice regarding stopping motion using my Profoto D1 Air 500s. I love these heads and use them for just about everything. However, I'm getting into more beverage photography, and need to start capturing splashes etc. I've been having a heck of a time accomplishing nice crisp frozen motion. I've played around with high speed sync on my speedlights, but I would like to use my D1 Airs. I admit I'm very new to this sort of thing, and don't have much experience with freezing...

NOTE: This was posted on open talk as well as D1-4, D600-800 Hi All, I am an owner of D3s, I also own Nikon SB600 which I do not really like because it is basic (Not in any way I am pro or anything like that). What I am planning to do in sell SB600 and buy 2 Yongnuo 565EX (Speed light) to do some studio (just family portraits). Is this a good move as I believe this particular flash is quite advanced and has a good reputation (information from someone in a camera club I met once). What do you...

Why are the Nikon D1, D2, and D3 series cameras grouped under FX sensors? Those cameras have DX sized sensors, so it's confusing. (No judgment intended). They are pro bodies, but pro bodies with DX sensors. I used to shoot with a D1X, and loved it. It was most definitely not a full-frame camera however. Then I got a D200, and loved it too. Also an FX sensor. Now I have a D600, which DOES have a full-frame sensor, and FABULOUS high ISO performance. --Regards,Duncan Cdpreview and PBase...
