This is the Lens that the camera came with. Excellent for every day shots and to practice with the features of the DSLR. Problems: None at all.

For this quality, this lens is under-priced. One of the best DX lenses on a very affordable range. Auto focus is solid, and there is no need for manual because you shouldn't be shooting anything too out of the ordinary. For a plastic build, it is very sturdy and feels solid. The zoom is smooth and slightly stiff, and to many, just right. Manual focus is a problem because of the rotating element, but isn't horrible. The Nikon kit lens has come quite a distance with the third release make-over of the original digital DX kit lens. The build is improved, the plastic feels rougher and well put together, the VR works very well for every-day-shooting hand shake; not as well as the VR used in the 18-200 but plenty for the intended purpose. It feels lighter then previous versions or, simply gives that feeling in real world use. Definitely a bit chunkier because of the added VR but with a nicer more solid feel ...
