Hi!I recently dropped my AF-S DX Nikkor 55-300 VR lens on the ground. It landed on its front. Ever since then I have issues with focusing. It works 70%-80% of the time, but sometimes it just can't drive the focus motor. I have to switch to MF move the focus ring a bit and switch back to AF.Does anybody have a similar problem? Is it worth sending it to Nikon for repairs?

I simply want to know if I buy a 70-300 that is a FX lense (for what I understand)... When I'll shoot with it at 300 (on a DX body) will I shoot the same picture that a 55-300 (DX lens) at 300 would?

Hi all, This is my first post on DPReveiw. In preparing a wildlife trip, I'm looking for a reasonable telephoto lens that suits my Nikon D7100 body (DX sized sensor). The sole lens I have, is a portrait zoom (Sigma 17-70mm "C") which also sees landscape use most of the time, but for the next trip I'll need (much) more focal length. Since I try to shoot without tripod when possible, and due to luggage limitations, I'd like to avoid carrying a heavy lens that needs a permanent tripod mount, so...

I bet this question has been asked hundreds of times, but I am a total newbie, so please... If you only had $1000 to spend on everything from dslr to filters, what would you buy? I have considered the following: (top choice so far) d7000 with 18-105mm kit lens + 50mm f/1.8g af-s FX (75mm on the d7000) + Lowepro slingshot 200aw + 2 SanDisk 32gb memory cards same as above except a 35mm f/1.8 DX instead of the 50mm FX d7100 body only + 50 or 35mm f/1.8 + Lowepro slingshot 200aw + 2 SanDisk 32gb...

Hi, I have been shooting with Nikon D3200 mostly birds, and i am looking to upgrade to a better camera. D3200 doesn't have good enough AF, it mostly misses the focus and grinds it back and forth.(Nikkor 55-300mm) I know that this lens has slow AF. Also it seems like i can't get bright photos because i try to shoot mostly in F/8 with my nikkor 55-300mm to get the sharpest possible results, and if i bring the ISO up, its all noisy and shoft. I have been thinking about D7200 or D610. I am...

Hi, I have a relatively new (less than 1 year old) Nikon D5300. It has been working fine for a while, but today I turned it on to take some pictures but the autofocus through the viewfinder will not work. I Have to hold the button halfway to focus, but then it waits around 5 seconds before going through its whole range of focus. When I use the screen to autofocus, it works just fine. I have two lenses, the Nikon DX AF-S 18-55mm and the Nikon DX AF-S 55-300mm. It doesn't matter which lens I...

On this Thursday, I promised some of my classmates that I would shoot my school's first junior varsity basketball game. Except I don't ever shoot sports. I thought I would use this as an opportunity to expand my range. I usually shot a few portraits and people, if you count school events. I might be able to snag a seat up front but there are no guarantees because I would have to ask the coach first.  I have a nikon 55-300mm lens with a very small aperture range, its f4.5-5.6, so it isn't...

Hi i was wondering if its worth trading my dx gear for full frame I would be trading D7100 with Nikon 35mm 1.8 Nikon 17-55 2.8 Sigma 50-150 2.8 Nikon 10.5 fish eye 2.8 Nikon 50-300 f4:5 Nikon 40mm macro 2.8 For a D800 , nikon 24-70mm and 50mm 1.8 I shoot all types and i mainly use the 17-55 and 35mm 1.8 often. So is full frame really worth trading my DX family for.
