I've been wanting a DSLR for a good year and a half now, but I keep putting off buying one due to cost and the simple fact that I really have no idea what the best purchase to make is. Then a few weeks ago I went on a trip and realized my Nikon Coolpix (P300 or S9100 maybe? I've had it at least four years) isn't performing to the standard I want, seeing how I couldn't get many clear pictures after five pm. I would love to take night shots (most of the pictures I take are in low light as is-...

Newegg Flash has the FinePix S9150 refurbished at a really good price right now. Best I can tell is that it appears to be about the same as the S9200 (I can only find the S9150 sold at Walmart). So I'm going with that idea that the models are similar/same for the purpose of evaluating buying the S9150.  I have a Coolpix S8100 I bought several years ago, and the price is right on the S9150. I'd love to upgrade to a more feature rich camera with better zoom and, hopefully, with a bit better...

Does anyone know for sure what the maximum-sized CF card the FinePix S9100 will accept and use reliably? If you already know the answer to the above question, you need read no further. This is what I have found so far: The manual does mention sizes for xD up to 2GB; but, it does not mention sizes for CF except in the chart projecting how many pictures a particular media will hold and in that chart is limited to MicroDrive (only MicroDrive) up to 1GB. The manual also states as follows: Storage...

I just started looking for a new digital camera. I currently have a Nikon S9100, I've had it for a couple years and its a nice camera but I am looking for something that will give me better image quality and and a more control without having a huge/expensive DSLR. I'd also like to be able start experimenting with manual settings but still have auto modes available. The "Micro 4/3" cameras sound perfect. Now, which one do it get? Here is a list of some features I am looking for: Wifi to...

Hi. New here. Looking for some advice/opinions for my first big camera purchase. I'm budgeting about $1000 for a body, and an additional $1000-1500 for lenses and accessories. I'll talk a little about me to give you some context, and if you don't care feel free to skip to the tl;dr. What I shoot:I would consider myself a creative/experimental photographer. I tend to shoot a bit of everything, and try to get that unique view of the world. I enjoy shooting from odd angles and extreme focal...

I'm looking to upgrade my Nikon S9100 P&S to something a bit higher quality.  Primarily looking at video and sports/high frame rate shooting.  My primary reason to upgrade is that at the long end I've generally been disappointed with the VR of the S9100.  I looked at the X20 and P7800 in the store today.  The Nikon felt most at home in my hands but I couldn't help but notice that the Fuji seemed to have comparable/better image quality.  Keep in mind this was comparing straight off the LCD and...

Hi, I have had my nikon for about 2 or 3 years now and all of a sudden it will not recognize that the flash is up when I raise it.  When I try to turn flash on it will say to raise the flash even though the flash is already raised.  Any ideas on how to fix this? Thanks!

I have had my D40X for about 5 years, right about when it came out.  While it has been a great camera I've started noticing some instances where my Nikon S9100 is out performing it.  Mostrecently was the 4th of July when I couldn't get the camera to focus quick enough for the fireworks.  I switched to the 9100 & I was in business.  Keep in mind I'm very much a novice with SLR cameras so it could be user error.  I've looked at both the 5200 & 3200 and I've used my dad's 7000 and I'm somewhat...
