Since picture quality is the absolutely most important thiing about a digital camera, I will not recommend this to anybody. It's far too much noise on the pictures which becomes even more annoying on prints. I have owned this camera for a few weeks and I'll sell it as fast as I can and get an Ixus. Far better picture quality. I also own a Canon Powershot S70, but needed a more portable camera. Problems: Picture quality Light sensitivity

A nice looking camera with a bright huge lcd screen, warning you for blurry pictures. And you get blurry pictures for this tiny camera is way too slow. Not of the fine quality of the 3700, 5200 and 7900. Problems: Far too slow. Blurry pictures

I bought the S1 in response to its appealing form factor and design. If I had read further about its limitations, I might not. Picture quality is diappointing. 50 ISO is the only setting where noise is not problematic. At 50 ISO the "shake" warning blinks under almost all circumstances except on a fully sunny day. I am a fan of the ultracompact cameras, as I can just slip them into my pocket and take them anywhere without a case or a bag to carry, however none of them really stood out as a winner and I chose to get the new Nikon S1 beacuse of Nikon's reputation, even though this is their first entry into the ultracompact market.
