Nikon Coolpix S1

Sony T1/T-33 are better for the same money. Let me start by saying I don't own this camera, but have played with it. It has a nice build quality - light weight and fits in the hand nicely. Good layout and good button action. It feels and looks high quality. Problems: For one, the LCD is nice and big, but half the pixels of the Sony T-33, so it's nowhere near as clear and crisp. Overall a great little camera that is quite capable of excellent images up to 8x10 prints. You'll definitely want to take the S1 with you everywhere you go. Problems: Not really.

My 2nd digital camera. My first one being a Fujifilm 30i, so I was thoroughly amazed at how technology has advanced since three years ago. Great design for that valuable real estate in my cluttered camera bag. No external lens covers to catch on or break off, sturdy METAL BODY. I bought this for my teenage daughter knowing she would not use it if it were big. She bonded with it immediately. It is very easy to use - the manual is optional for her. Controls are highly intuitive/self expanitory (in great contrast to early Nikon digitals) The LCD screen is very bright. She has taken some wonderful pix in the first 2 weeks. Just picked one up in Tokyo. This is a stunning camera. Great design, fast, and microscopic. Huge LCD, intelligent exposure and firmware and docking station. Problems: Nikon could have included a case for it (they never do) and maybe a cheapy 32Mb card (it comes with a scant internal memory anyhow). But those two things are cheap.

Nice color and generally sharp images. Great build and the LCD is quite nice as it is usable in bright light. Presets work well, at least the ones I've tried, and face-priority AF is very helpful.

What a wonderful camera! Perfect for taking along and getting photos and videos. I love the SD card storage. The screen is huge and the features are first rate. Since I also have the full complement of Nikon's pro gear and lenses, I wanted a personal pocket camera that was capable and lightweight. They're going to sell a gazillion of these things.
