Successor to the Coolpix P50, the P60 is a slightly unusual camera that combines a 5x (36-180mm equiv.) zoom, a decent level of photographic control and an electronic viewfinder into a very compact body. It's neither a point-and-shoot-only ultra compact nor a fully-fledged photographers' camera. Instead it's a pocketable digital camera that marries a sensible sensor to a decent zoom and keeps the the cost to a minimum.

Opinion: After owning a nikon Coolpix P4 that failed due to some unknown cause I set out to look for a replacement.
Got the P60 from amazon.fr at a very decent price, being lured in by the prospectus of a manual mode in a compact camera with a decent 5x zoom and VR.
Sadly the optics and the sensor were misaligned and the whole right side of the images was black independently of the zoom or the aperture used.
Also the so-called Manual mode only allowed the selection of 2 different apertures, thus not being true manual at all.
Sent it back for a refund.
Problems: Misaligned optics.
Not a real manual mode.
Opinion: praktyczna funkcja manualna, dobra plastycznosc i kolorystyka zdjec
Opinion: This a great pocket camera. I've taken some awesome shots with this camera. The zoom is great. This camera has potential. Once studied and tweaked, fabulous. But let's not put it down because it's slow. It's very quick. One of the quickest P&S I've used. But not for my high-speed-two-year-old-boy. It's not made to do that either. And mostly, I've gotten consistently over 900 shots with Lithium AA. (ok, very little flash). Solid little camera. Worth the money.
Problems: Indoors is a challenge. Needs trial and error everytime. Kid's running indoors are not it's thing.(not for P&S). Lately, the camera warns that it can't read the card. I have to reinstall the card.(push it in and out).
Opinion: Just an ordinary PS camera, except the body is nice shaped.
Problems: Color noise, compression artifacts - the usual problems of a small camera. Zoom is not continuous, but works in steps. Control in M mode is not easy to find out while having a lot of knowlegde of dealing with SLR.
