I need to replace a Canon PowerShot A620. It's beginning to come apart at the seams, and I figure new cameras probably have better image quality and features. I was originally looking to spend about $200, but now I'm thinking of either spending less on an ultracompact or more on "last year's" enthusiast compact. I have a very mild brand preference for Canon, but I won't let that prevent me from considering other options. Needs: Fits in my pocket. Let's define this as under 1.4" thick. Fits...

Is Nikon's "Lens Shift VR" optical or digital image stabilization? Does the L610 have optical or digital image stabilization? Does the P310 have optical or digital image stabilization? Is there a difference between the type of image stabilization technology used on the L610 and P310?

I am switching from film to digital and want to take a point and shoot to my beach vacation. I have narrowed my choices down to two cameras: 1. Canon PowerShot A1400 2. Nikon COOLPIX P310 I really lean towards the Nikon, but I have always had a viewfinder on my cameras, and worry that the lack of a viewfinder on the Nikon will frustrate me, especially in bright sun. The Canon camera has a viewfinder. For a modern point and shoot such as the Nikon P310, can one get by without a viewfinder on a...

I am thinking of getting a good P&S for my regular use...All i am looking for is a pocket friendly camera with good image quality and with some features like Panorama and if possible HDR...I am thinking of Nikon S9200 or Nikon P310?? I am very much confused in selecting one of them....S9200 got staggering zoom (actually I don't require that much) on the other hand P310 got manual controls (I think i can't make wonders with these manual controls coz i think they are pretty limited in this...

hello. i currently have a nikon d40, but am looking for something to replace it. i would like a much smaller digital camera that can provide comparable, or better image quality for use on digital mediums. the nikon coolpix p310 seems to be the best option, as far as i know, as it is only 190 on amazon. i am very inexperienced in this field and would really appreciate help from this knowledgeable forum regarding any superior options in the same price range. thank you!

Hello, I'm wanting to upgrade my compact from a Nikon P310, I had the chance to test out the Canon G15, what i really liked was the capacity of a sort of "Live Settings Preview" in the screen, i mean, depending on your F and shutter it would show you how "more or less" the light would look like on your pictures. This feature is not possible in my Nikon P310, which you have to take several photos testing settings until you get you want, since i'm just an amateur/hobbie/occasional photo guy, i'm...

I purchased a Nikon P300 just 10 months ago. I wanted a compact with manual controls, and the P300 and S100 seemed like my best bets. The only reason I went with it over the S100 because of cost- the S100 was $350 at the time, and the P310 $230.  I've been pretty happy with it, but haven't stopped thinking about the S100. Especially now that I've been having some problems with the P300 lately- a spot of sensor dust (I assume), random shut-offs, and random times at power-on where the lens...

Hi.I am considering buying a Nikon P310 alternative a P510 for filming golf swings videos. However, I am not sure if the camera can do the job. Firstly, 120FPS is perhaps to few to get a good enough view of the swing. Secondly, it must be possible to adjust the shutter speed, preferable setting the dial to P (shutter priority) and setting the shutter speed at 1/2000 or more. The short shutter speed is needed to get a very clear picture of the club head at impact with the ball with as little...

Hell everyone, I need a little help deciding on a camera. I currently have a Canon powershot SD1100 IS, which is a few years old (the reason I'm looking to upgrade). It's been a pretty decent camera to me but isn't really cutting it for me for most of my needs.I'm looking for something pocketable (so point&shoot), under $300, decent zoom, with HD video and quality photos.. The main selling point for me is whether or not I can take decent photos & videos at concerts with it. I understand that...
