Very happy with the picture quality of this camera both outdoors and underwater.  Used and abused this camera in some wonderful outdoor environments where you wouldn't want to take a non waterproof camera. Captured some memorable underwater photo's of the family swimming with fur seals in Jurien Bay, canyoning at Karijini National Park, white water tubing on the Collie River, snorkelling on the Ningaloo reef, mud crabbing, kayaking and then me not being careful enough whilst changing out a ...

I am a Nikon DSLR user with extensive semipro experience. I bought the AW 100 this August as my first underwater compact for holidays, backup and fun. After first evening I wanted my money back, but next day I decided to give it a second chance, this time after studying it carefully. Outstanding results for a so small sensor compact, amazing colours and breathtaking close-ups at 1 cm or even less ! I knew Nikon doesn't shine on small compacts, but they did a very good job on this one. ...

The AW100 is my first "tough" camera. It feels very durable, the GPS feature works well and the video quality is very good. All of the advertised features work and the camera handles quite well. There are a few issues with it: 1. The image quality is not very good at the pixel level. The images show strange artifacts, as if the JPEG was over compressed. AW100 does everyting I bought it to do. Find 288 test photos at: http://www.flickr.com/photos/charlieflynn After you open the box print the users manual immediately. If you can't, Staples or Kinkos can for around $27.00US. The Sweetheart Auto mode is designed for beginners. The Auto mode is where more advanced users want to shoot. Scene modes can be very handy if you understand the limitations and things you can not control. Blury pictures on Flickr are from trying to handhold at very slow ...

I must say that after spending some time with the camera and using the scenery options and doing some test footage. This camera does a great job for the price. I have not done any underwater footage and photos at this time. Outdoors in the early morning, sunlight and overcast this camera takes amazing photos. The video quality is great but with most small cameras the image stability when moving and shooting video is not great, but it does produce some great video. For the Price, Durability ...

I have a Nikon D5000 and a Canon HD video camera which I'm very happy with, but it's cumbersome to lug my gear around when I'm traveling. This camera solves the weight problem for me. It's built to withstand abuse, it's waterproof to depths that I don't exceed, and it's got geotagging built in. If you're looking at this camera as your primary camera, I would think long and hard about how important waterproofness is to you. If you're not planning to go in the water with it or otherwise abuse ...
